In the end I had never been there because it was long closed for a fire. I don't know if there are still Italians, people at the counter were all Canadians, and the shop has a sign that declares Italian and French specialties. However, it looks Italian with a lot of pastries and sweets. I tried focaccia, pizza (at the cutting just Italian) and a brioche. all pretty good and especially authentic. I felt a little expen... stopped in here for lunch today, as well as a few items, breadsticks, bread, etc.I made the mistake of ordering the special spaghetti...Well, we waited, and waited, then my wife's soup came (and was delicious,) then the table that ordered after us , their food came, then finally, after my wife had finished her soup, my spaghetti came: the noodles were so raw there hardly bent, the sauce was watery, it was awful.I did... Not what I was expecting. Small selection. Chose jam cookie. After biting in to cookie, jam was rubbery as if day old . Family members saying their selections were ok .
This little corner cafe offers the BEST coffee, which is saying something in coffee-conscious Victoria. It also has a great variety of wonderful Italian pasteries. I likedy single serving so much, I took some home. Atmosphere is simple cafe style and the couple that run it are charming and welcoming. A don't miss spot.
Run from Italians and produce real Italian bakeries the croissants and bread as they should be (and are in Italy and here). Good Gelato and Americanos and you can try your Italian Buono! closed Monday
There are only 3 or 4 tables to sit and they sit only 2 or 3 persons. then there is a cramped bar that takes up about 10 people. I wish there were more seats, because they have a lot of meals, but nowhere to sit and eat. the food was very good. I had the ham and cheese croissant and Gelato. the gelato is good, but not authentic Italian gelato. it tastes more sugar and syrup than it should. the service was the best part. all employees were very friendly and accommodating, patient with us and help us with the order.
I expected to find a much larger selection of baked goods in this bakery, but it was somewhat limited. I had a mortadella and cheese croissant. It was decent and tasty. Service was very basic, not much personality from the server. The prices were average.
