A great place on Yates that might get overlooked, Hawk and Hen is charming and peaceful. The restaurant is a very nice place to be, and the small patio is great on a sunny morning. The service is a bit slow, as things got a bit backed up, but the food was great. What User doesn't like about Hawk & Hen:
Six of us arrived about 11:00 for breakfast. Waitress was great and took our beverage order first. After beverages arrived, food order was taken. After order was taken, that is when things went down hill! We had to wait 50 minutes for our orders to arrive! We happened on this restaurant for our lunch stop one day walking around Victoria. I had a salad & my husband had a burger. Both were very good. But the iced tea was the most amazing! It was so good, I took one to go. We were after the lunch rush so our waiter had time to be attentive. It was great for lunch. Neat woodwork in the decor.
Great tasting food served by very friendly staff. You will go away feeling very satisfied and count the minutes until you go back.
We had dinner at this restaurant. Staff were very friendly and efficiënt although it was very busy with only two waiters present. We had a delicious onionsoup to start, with very tasty homebaked bread.
Had breakfast- Latke (potato pancake) with apple compote. It was a lot as they give you 3 pancakes. I had with a side of bacon and pouched egg. It was pretty good. Yes, I would go back. They had a place to eat outside too.
