Lovely place for a quiet meal. Their menu is quite extensive with a large variety of appetizers, noodles and lots of sushi! Reasonable prices compared to local competition, and super friendly service. Great location in the Goldstream Village, five minute walk from the fountain! Definitely worthwhile stopping in for lunch or dinner! View all feedback.
What Annamarie Wilkinson doesn't like about Akemi Sushi:
Limp tempura. Over-cooked chicken karaage. Tasteless deep-fried oysters in ponzu sauce (well actually freezer-burn taste). sushi rolls were okay, not great. Salmon sashimi was good, not great -- I expected better, this is the west coast after all, not Ontario. Nice decor and atmosphere but there were very few diners, this should have been my first clue. There must be better choices for sushi in Victoria. View all feedback.
Staff is friendly and the sushi is good. Read some reviews before going in and was concerned for no reason. The sushi and sashimi is good and well prepared, presentation is very good. Decor is very typical.
I live not too far from Akemi so it was a huge bonus to find such a great sushi place in Langford. I actually prefer going to Akemi over any other place in Vic. Everything is always fresh tasting, the service is beyond anything you'll get downtown and the owners are very friendly. I have sat in and ordered take out and have never been disappointed. My favorite dishes include oyster ponzu, a number of sashimi dishes and even the deep fried california roll once in a while :).
I love this place. I have visited about 10 different sushi places around greater victoria. Their tuna tataki is only beat by ebizo dow town. Their nigiri is a good size and the beat quality in the city handa down. So far. Their rolls have the right amount of rice to the dish. I visit with a friend about once a month and we spent abiut 120 dollats over a couple hours eating and enjoying it. My friend has troubke getting ungi though. I dont think he has ever managed to get it. But seems to be a city wide thing as well.Service is great and your food always conea in a timely mannner. The two owners are always around one is thw sushi chef and the other is a waiter.
