Boulder has garnered a reputation for its delightful menu and appealing atmosphere, attracting regulars who appreciate its outdoor seating and engaging ambiance. Most patrons commend the incredible food and attentive service, particularly enjoying dishes like fried pickles and hearty burgers. However, recent visits have revealed inconsistencies, with reports of long waits and service hiccups, particularly during carry-out orders. We enjoyed a lovely dinner at Boulder Brew Pub! The selection was impressive, the service was excellent, and the food quality was outstanding.
We have been visiting Boulder for many years, and I'm really happy to see it has made it through the pandemic. The food is fantastic, especially the cheese curds, and the waitstaff is outstanding. We also enjoy dining outdoors, particularly when the weather is nice. I hope they will bring back the Sweet Chili sauce!
Later on, when my mother-in-law visited, we decided to place a carry-out order through Eat Street. The estimated time for our food was 6:10 PM, and my daughter and I arrived just before that to pick it up. However, our order wasn’t ready. When I asked the staff about the status, they said they would check. After a while, they returned without any new information, leaving us to wait. Ten minutes later, I inquired again, and the host reassured me that our food would be out shortly. Another twenty minutes went by before I decided to check once more. I made it clear that if our order wasn’t ready, I wanted to cancel it. They checked again and then informed me that the order hadn’t gone through, yet they seemed to know what to prepare for us without me needing to specify. With my three-year-old growing increasingly restless and no food in sight, I insisted on canceling the order. They mostly blamed Eat Street for the issue and claimed there was nothing they could do about the $100 order. While it's easy to lay the blame on Eat Street, we've used their service for several restaurants around Madison without any problems, suggesting a larger issue with this restaurant's management. I would recommend avoiding this place to prevent any frustration. As a side note, the restaurant has blocked me on Facebook for sharing this review, which tells me a lot about their response to my concerns. Instead of addressing the poor service, they focused more on the refund, with no apology for the disappointing experience.
The food was delicious, and the service was initially very attentive, but it diminished as the restaurant became busier. They have a solid selection of beers, though I would love to see more stouts or porters available. A barrel-aged beer served in a snifter would also be a delightful option for after dinner. Overall, the atmosphere is enjoyable.
