Hamman's Bakery - Vermilion

Hamman's Bakery is the popular Donut Stop in Vermillion. I stopped on a Friday morning at 7:50. There were three cars in the drive and three cartridges in front of me. The three girls have two dozen donuts each! I will say that the selection was dizzying so that they are there early when the deliveries expire. I took a blueberry glazed donut, a pecan roll and two of their cream cheese Philo dough pastries. Heidelbeerdonut was on site. It was perfectly glazed with a beautiful crunch on the outside and only the correct amount of blueberry taste on the inside. It was my favorite series. The pecan roll was ok, but after the first bite I decided to put it in the oven at 300 degrees for a few minutes. The warming of the syrup stem led to a small caramelization on the ground and really increases the taste during. But I was a bit disappointed with the cream cheese filled pastries. It was lovely flaky and the amount of filling was good, but it didn't care to be the boarder enough. But the problem that I had was that I felt there was too much ejacating/lucky up there. I think the dish had excessively sweet and distracted from the contrast of the cream cheese. I'd get the blueberry and pecan roll back, but I'm likely to pass on the pastry. If you're in the area or just go through, skip DD chain and give Hamman's business.

I know everyone has a small town bakery, but this family own business donuts are absolutely amazing. Definitely recommend!!

In town visiting family and stopped in for donuts. The sticky buns and maple pecan rolls were amazing! I also purchased a variety of cream sticks as well as other items. I would definitely recommend paying them a visit if you are in the area!

True story- my wife comes from work and regales me with story of this mysterious donut shop in Vermillion, Hamman’s Bakery, and the amazing donuts it produces. “This salesmen brought us 5 dozen, there were glazed croissants, sprinkles and all these other Willy Wonka sounding donuts” i am paraphrasing and added the Willy Wonka part but usually I am in a puddle of drool by this part of the story. This morning I dutifully got up and drove over to Vermillion around 9am. I broke the cardinal rule of good donut shopping I got there after 9am. So my selection was decidedly less Wonka-ish but amazing none the less. We got the old standard Glazed( nothing standard here.. amazing , chocolate ring cake donuts, powdered sugar, a sole glazed croissant that made the whole trip magical and a wild card, almond ring that looked like the cinnamon roll with almond chips. Everything we ate was a best bite and the glazed croissant was a double best bite!!! Get there early, the line was 7 deep when i was there. The owner said he was non-stop since 6 AM...
