Gave this place a try and was pleasantly surprised. Their fish was almost as good as my homemade fish, their chowder was flavourful but needed more cream and flour to thicken it (chowder should be thick and creamy, not watery), fries were well spiced but slightly overcooked. Salad was pathetic, but hey, you don 't make friends with salad. I like that it 's also a Poissonnerie and I will definitely be back to get fres... View all feedback.
What Dean Abbott doesn't like about La Queue De Poisson Inc:
Went there last night for fish and chips (my partner), and fish and salad for me. It took forever and more to get served. Once we got served, the salad was soggy and with so much salad dressing...yuk AND the fries, well we don’t know how many times they were cooked but certainly more than twice or three times, dried up, dark brown fries. We waited an 1hr and 40 mins for our meal (fish and chips) the restaurant had two other tables occupied at the time of the order. The waiter never came to apologize or ask if there was anything they could do. Even after he made two mistakes never even bothered to apologize for the mistakes instead he avoided our table the entire time. When It came to the check they never offered any type of reconciliation of their mistakes and terrible service only excuses. This evening was for mothers day and it left. I would never go there. On top of the terrible service the size of the fish was disappointing I'm sure I got more fish from a highlander fish stick.
So decided to have some fish across the road. I had the grilled tuna and an apple beer. The restaurant was busy but the service was fast but really nicely cooked with grilled vegetables and salad being tasty. Four sides are available but those were my choices. Lively and friendly. We also buy fresh fish here btw.
Decided not to eat in the restaurant so we ordered two haddock and chips to take out. The portion sizes are adequate and the chips (OK fries, then) were as expected on this side of the Atlantic. The fish was good but more work is needed on the batter. So, OK but could do a lot better ...
I ate at Queue de Poisson yesterday with a friend to discuss future plans. We both had the cod fish n chips with tartar sauce . She had a chambly blonde and I opted for a dark and stormy. Everything from the cod to the salad was nice and fresh. The fish cooked perfectly. It stayed nice and crispy . The fries were AMAZING. The salad had just the right amount of dressing and was simple . The tartar sauce could've use a bit more flavour but it was still a great side to the fish . Good atmosphere , great selection of music! The server was very courteous and she didn't hover over us all the time which was nice . Definitely a nice , cool spot to check out for lunch!
