Was Jen Norton at Yolks a mag?
This restaurant is quite similar to Red Wagon near Hastings and Nanaimo, but its menu changes more frequently. Be prepared for a wait on weekend mornings. The building has an older feel and a musty smell, but the interior is cozy and features a lot of charming artwork by local artists. They offer a variety of unique alcoholic brunch drinks. Breakfast and brunch lovers will definitely not be disappointed here. View all feedback.
What Tina Tsambas dislikes about Yolks:
I believe my expectations for this restaurant were a bit unrealistic, so when we actually visited, the overall experience felt rather average. It was a Sunday morning, and the line was long; we waited 30 minutes to be seated. After ordering, we waited another 20 minutes for our food. - The restaurant tends to be quite busy during peak hours. - There's pay parking available along Hastings Street, as well as free 1-2 hour parking on the side streets. - You might have to wait around 30 minutes for a table, so it's best to arrive early if you can. - They offer daily specials worth checking out. - Our server, Anton, provided excellent service! - Overall, the service was efficient. - Food rating: 4/5!!! - The French toast is a must-try! They use Panko bread crumbs, which add a delightful texture to every bite. - The Lemon Hollandaise sauce is incredibly delicious and has a fresh taste. - The Eggs Benedict were good, but not exceptional.
I had the buttermilk chicken egg Benedict, and while the overall taste was decent, it was far too oily. I understand that these dishes are deep-fried, but I think it would be better if some of the oil could be removed before serving. The plate was covered in oil drips after the meal. On a positive note, the staff were friendly, and the dining environment was decent.

Overall, I felt it was just another brunch spot with an overpriced menu.
I had heard about Yolks multiple times before. It’s a breakfast spot, but it’s quite a distance from where we live, so we never made the trip, especially since people usually line up before it opens. We were just too lazy to wake up at 6 or 7 a.m. to wait in line. Fortunately, we happened to pass by around 2:30 p.m. and saw that it was still open. There were no other customers since they close at 3 p.m., and we thought they wouldn’t serve us anymore, so we started to leave. However, they let us know that they could still take our order. We were really lucky!
I ordered the Chicken Waffles and two Eggs Benedict. The Chicken Waffles came with only four small pieces of chicken, which felt a bit less generous compared to Tuc Craft. Additionally, the flavor wasn't as good as I remembered from a year or two ago. On the other hand, the sauce for the Eggs Benedict was outstanding, and the eggs were cooked perfectly. I definitely recommend trying the truffle lemon hash browns as a side—they are absolutely delicious, though they can be a bit salty.
