I had a wonderful time celebrating my birthday brunch! We decided to share the crushed French toast, and it was absolutely amazing. I highly recommend trying this dish! We also ordered some separate brunch items; I went for the small breakfast, which included homemade sausage, smashed potatoes, and toast. Our server apologized for the delay in our meals, mentioning that the kitchen was busy, but we were a bit puzzled... View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about The Village Bistro:
I've been to this restaurant four times. The first two visits were terrible, but after they rebranded, my third visit was fantastic. The short ribs were very good, and the cracker was excellent. However, the crumb cakes were hard, overcooked, and left a lot to be desired. The oysters were dry as well. Additionally, the cocktails were pricey and the martinis barely contained any alcohol. Not sure how long this place was open under the current property, but was only recently recognized. we took in the Valentine's Day menu and were very surprised to have such a delicious meal at such a reasonable price. eating was very tasty and very fantasy compliments to the cook! he knows what he does as owner and cook. we will definitely come back.
Our meal at Village Bistro was overall very enjoyable. However, there were a few little quirks that seem to come simply from inexperience and the newness of the restaurant. We ordered the 5 course Valentine's menu which was very good, however we were surprised that the first course came before our drinks. As well, although the waiter was very attentive, it was a bit disruptive to be asked during each course even the smaller ones if we were enjoying the food. Again, good intentions but the lack of experience showed.
Very well priced entrees and appetizers. Creative drinks under $10 and nice wine list with some of the best of BC's wine. Food was prepared quickly and attractively. Server was attentive and friendly. Atmosphere relaxed yet upscale. Warm and inviting room.
This place is such a gem. I was blown away by the delicious meal. It's fine dining cuisine at affordable prices. Our server was attentive but no over bearing and suggested a delicious wine that went perfect with our meal. Overall very pleased with my choice of restaurants and I will be coming back soon
Went here for first time during dine out vancouver and the 3 course set meal (with choices of all three courses) was extremely well presented, efficiently served and tasted wonderful. The service was great too very friendly and helpful without being obsequious or aggressive. Wine was very palatable although not a huge range of choice. Don 't be put off by it 's being on Davie Street as it is close enough to Burrard Street. No hesitation in recommending to friends, and we 'll go again.
