Good food and well priced. Liked the music. Great service. High ceiling, black walls, chandeliers, bar, booths and tables. Downtown feel - nice menus with fun appies to share. Will definitely return. It has juice! View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about The Ascot:
We dropped in here for a couple of appies and a drink. We enjoyed the prawns and the scallops as they were both tasty but the portion was a little too small. The establishment is tiny and since they had a big reso we couldn't get a table (although the reso hadn't shown by the time we left). We sat at the bar. The bartender made good cocktails and was pleasant enough. All in all a decent place, but nothing special. View all feedback.
Our food was bland and presented in ways that did not offer color or flavor or a cooked look. The perogies stuffing was tasty but they were presented with a slab of sour cream and no carmelization on the perogies. Just boiled or something. The cauliflower was again bland and not tasty. Then came the fish tacos and the tacos crumbled apart and the fish was overlooked so I sent those back and ordered the hamburger. A reprieve on the burger but I did need to crank it up with tobasco sauce, mustard, salt and pepper. The service was Ok.
Excellent food (I had the house-cured salmon and the seared tuna salad on asparagus). Tasty cocktails. DJ on Saturday night.
If you enjoy having your repast in premises that are in dire need of renovations then The Ascot is for you. Even the menu was terribly soiled and tattered. if what diners can see are in that much disrepair I wonder what the kitchen looks like!
Been walking past this place on my way home from the gym every second night since it opened and last night finally had occasion to go in. Met a friend there for drinks and appetizers. Arriving at 7:15 on a Thursday evening and already all tables that weren't reserved were already taken. Sat at the bar. For a place fashioned on an old-world pub, the selection of beer on tap was disappointing. The food selection was not bad, however. Good selection, average quality, but a little abobe average price. . . And surprisingly loud and crowded.
