We thought we'd check this place out as another place to catch some jazz tunes by local performers. Lots of pay street parking. Casual, relaxed atmosphere. Surprisingly good Malaysian food we had vs. Bar/grill food menu items also offered. Yam fries plus Mee goreng with chicken option and sambal ayam. Yum. What Ken S doesn't like about Tangent Cafe Vancouver:
Expensive and not good employees overwhelmed and crabby. This cash cow of an eatery would not be missed. I pray that it gets replaced by a better place. Commercial drive deserves better View all feedback.
Great vibe created by a very kind and dedicated staff and wonderful ownership. Don’t miss a night when there’s music; many of Vancouver’s finest jazz players drop in. Tangent Cafe has great food too!
I go here mainly to hear top notch jazz musicians play on Thursdays and Sundays. Even without the live music, Tangent is a wonderful and warm neighborhood spot on Commercial Drive with great staff. The long communal table is also a nice touch.
Breakfast was amazing, had a ceasar and bacon avacado eggs benny. Egg was sofy and cooked to perfection. service was quick and attentive, staff friendly and funny. Defiantly will go back!
Great find. Lovely Jazz duet playing while we enjoyed a candlelit dinner with cocktails. A very nice vibe...warm, casual and friendly. Started with the Roti Canai (very impressed), then shared the Kari Ayam (chicken, lemongrass in a spicy yellow curry coconut sauce). We will definitely return.
One of the best breakfast places I've eaten at! When my father comes to town, we are always excited to catch up over amazing food and coffee.
