Take Five Cafe
3.5 / 5 (637 reviews)

Description

Although Take Five Café has multiple locations throughout Vancouver, the reviews for this coffee shop are mixed. Some customers find the coffee to be weak and lacking in flavor, while others praise the strong, deep, and flavorful espressos. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, with friendly staff and a good selection of pastries. However, some customers have encountered cleanliness issues and stale pastries. Overall, while the café offers a nice place to rest and recuperate during a busy day of shopping, the quality of the food and beverages may not be worth a return visit for some customers.

I’m not usually one for especially recommending a coffee shop, but Take Five Café is certainly somewhere you should drop into if you are living in — or visiting — the Vancouver area. There are nine locations around town and we happened across the stand in the Pacific Center, where we shopping one afternoon and in desperate need of caffeine to keep us going. We found the espressos we ordered at Take Five to be absolutely fantastic. Strong, deep and flavourful Arabica with a really exceptional ‘kick’ that kept us going. There isn't much on their website to give insight into anything special going on, apart from carefully sourced beans (but all the coffee shops say that) but I genuinely cannot think of a time when I have had a better espresso. Very highly recommended — if you’re in search of coffee look out Take Five and make a special detour there to keep on rocking.

We had coffee here almost everyday during our stay at The Four Seasons. We loved their coffee and pastries.

Stayed at Four Seasons so just walked thru Hotel's door directly into Mall, turned right and really short walk to here. Saw the Oatmeal raisin cookie (the last one) and impulse buy. So good, went back early next morning & got 3 cookies, really good morning muffin & 2 beverages. Very nice staff.

We stayed at the Four Seasons next door and were in search of a light, affordable breakfast, so we decided to try this place in the large atrium-like structure in Pacific Centre on the ground level. The restaurant was bright and inviting, with a good selection of pastries and some heartier breakfast options. They also served coffee, which was all my wife needed. I tried the egg and ham muffin, which was fresh and tasty, similar in quality to something you might get at McDonalds. My wife enjoyed a Mocha and a Yogurt cup. We relaxed in the sunshine streaming through the windows as we enjoyed our simple breakfast. It wasn't a gourmet experience, but it was decent and reasonably priced for downtown Vancouver.

This is the worst cup of coffee I've ever had. I am not trying to talk bad about any place but it is unacceptable for customers to some to this place and spend some dollars on a disgusting coffee. The atmosfere is not appealing but...I wanted to have a latte and a bagel for breakfast. The counter that has the sugar and stuff was dirty, the service is regular, the lady that took my order was alone and checking stuff all over the place. I chose a latte and blueberry muffin. The latte barely had milk and the taste was as if the coffee were kept for years in a bag, old, acid, strong. The blueberry tasted like a plain bagel, not even sweet, this was the cherry on the cake. For the entire meal I paid and it was a waste of money. Honestly, do not come to this place.
