What Rufo Longo dislikes about Akbar's Own:
the personal is about what is gluten-free and what is not. like most Indian curries are akbars gluten-free. However, their paprika, which are produced with peach meal, were unfortunately boiled in the same oil as some of their gluten-containing products, i.e. not keliac safe. But...their curries are delicious, and this family-run restaurant is definitely worth a stop when they have a demand for Indian food. my daught... View all feedback.

This place is truly a hidden gem. The decor is simple but charming, and the staff were so friendly and welcoming. We ordered a variety of dishes and each one was better than the last. The flavors were bold and authentic, and the portion sizes were more than generous. I can't believe we waited so long to try this place. It's definitely now on our list of favorite restaurants in the area. If you're in the mood for delicious Indian cuisine, do yourself a favor and check out Akbar's Own. You won't be disappointed!
I came here to try the lunch special and was quite disappointed. The curry was tasteless and lacking in flavor.
Tried a sizzler lamb dish and a tangy chicken dish. The spice is interesting and tasty! The naan is chewy and freshly baked. Price is affordable and yet the presentation/service is upscale. Also loved the decor and vibe of the restaurant. Very cozy. It’s a shame that it’s tucked behind subway construction. It’s truly a hidden gem.
