What Kian Runolfsdottir doesn't like about Old Ginger Szechuan:
Came here because Peaceful Restaurant was closed. It's alright if you're looking for quick Chinese noodles, but not somewhere you want to sit for a long time. For the price it's decent. View all feedback.
Came here because the peaceful restaurant was closed. it's in order if you're looking for fast Chinese noodles, but not somewhere you want to sit for long. for the price it is decent.
I can't believe this place is ranked as the 1597th best restaurant in Vancouver. It may not be fancy or trendy, but the food here is incredibly delicious. The portions are generous, the flavors are fantastic, and the cooking is authentic. The prices are very reasonable, and I now find myself coming here regularly.

I purchased a Groupon for this restaurant before I left Florida for my Cruise/Tour of Alaska because the ship was disembarking in Vancouver and my girlfriend and I were going to spend 4 extra days visiting this city as we would probably never have another...chance to do this again. Groupon had a number of Asian restaurants on board and since I love Asian food and Vancouver has the 2nd largest Chinese population in North America; right behind San Francisco and before New York City I knew that choosing a Chinese restaurant; sight unseen and never before tried; would be an interesting experience. To be very honest I was blown away by the mouthwatering flavors produced in this small hole in the wall establishment and I felt that this was, by far, the best Chinese food that I have ever experienced in my 65 years of life and growing up in one of New York's five boroughs. The Hot Sour Soup was the only soup offering on the specific menu for Groupon as well as the limited assortment of entrees but everything served was just a WOW!!!! An Egg Roll preceded the entree and was quite good and the entrees were served with a sticky White Rice and a cup of Hot Tea which made everything flow together. The Hot Sweet Ginger Beef was so flavorful and the portion so outrageously overflowing that I was bowled over in delight. My girlfriend's Chicken with Sweet Sour Sauce was also prepared with a distinctly delicious flavor that I have yet to experience anywhere else. Her portion was also overflowing and we were able to share the leftovers for lunch the very next day and I had my leftover Ginger Beef between the 2 halves of a bagel the very next morning and I was once again drooling at the mouthwatering flavor even though it was reheated in the hotel microwave. The dessert was especially tasty as you know that ice cream in a Chinese restaurant is always the creamiest and a great cornerstone of a delicious Chinese meal and their ice cream was no exception. The food here is not to be beat anywhere and if you live in Vancouver or are just passing through then you need to place this eatery at the top of your list for a truly flavorful Chinese/Asian experience that will leave you smacking your lips and leaving all the other restaurants on your list waiting for your business as you will only want to try every dish that these people prepare. What a gr8 find this establishment really is!!!!!!!!!!!!
Really no ambiance. One waitress runs in different directions. Language can be a bit challenging to understand. Not very clean BUT GREAT FOOD.
