Lucky Plus Restaurant is a newish Chinese restaurant that opened up at the corner of Rupert and East 22nd Avenue. The interior is nice enough and it feels spacious given the high ceilings. We weren’t actually sure what to order so we stuck with some basics. First up was the House Special Chow Mein $12.95). There was a good amount of crispy noodles as well as sauce to complement the noodles. The shrimp were plump and had a nice snap to the bite.
I didn't have much expectation for this place when I came here for the 1st time a few month ago. Now I have been here a few times I feel it is time to write a review about this restaurant. The food is more than Hong Kong style cafe food. It offers curry that resembles southeast asian curries. The cumin lamb is also not HK cantonese style cuisine. Having been to Golden Oscar cafe and E-tea restaurant many times in the last few years, including Copa, Little Cow, Kam's and many other Hong Kong or Taiwanese cafes/restaurants, I am giving Lucky Plus a big-thumbs up. Service is good and friendly and food is tasty and of good quality. I have returned to Lucky Plus every week for their cumin lamb and spicy tofu. I highly recommend this place! I hope they will keep up the good service and food quality.
Lucky Plus is good place for a small group or big family dinner for no fussing, solid food. Been coming here for family dinners for a few years and like the reasonable prices, good portion size dishes, good food and a basic but clean atmosphere. The kitchen takes suggestions and will make accommodations. Menu is large enough but also have set dish menus like crab/chicken with soup with choice of 2, 4, or 6 dish combo or seasonally set menu for 10. Service is attentive and polite. They have many regulars. We had a family dinner for 7 on a weekday and selected the 6 dish menu with crab and noodle dish. We were full and even has to take some food home. This time, I found the dishes on the less salty side but it may have been mom making a suggestion! My brother goes fishing in the summer and for an additional fee, they will take the fresh fish to be cleaned and cooked to your choice. You can bring you own bottle of wine for a corking fee. I have not been there for dim sum or quick Hong Kong café style dishes but heard they are also good. Lots of free street parking and they even have free underground parking. Weekends can be busy so make reservations for dinner but weekday tends to be lighter.
Low price, delicious food, good service and beautiful waitresses highly recommended to come again. Price per person: $10–20 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
PDF of menu off of Google is not up to date. Price has gone up, instead of around $17 for noodles/rice dish.. it's more like $24 with tax. The serving size is average-slightly above average. Ordered a fried rice noodle dish, it was okay, a bit under seasoned but that's better than too salty, I can always add a dash of salt myself.
