I brought my parents to this restaurant, and I personally believe that this is the best restaurant in kerrisdale. the lobster with fried noodles is my favorite! the waiter is very fast and efficient and the manager she is very friendly, we have good talks. View all feedback.
What Brando Ebert doesn't like about Loks Chinese:
We recently tried take out at Lok's - on the phone they said a half-hour wait for pick-up but I waited another half-hour after I arrived at the restaurant. The egg rolls were tasty as was the vegetable chow mein. The lemon chicken and sweet and sour chicken balls were ok - nothing special. However the egg foo young was terrible - a weird taste. The restaurant was vey busy so perhaps there other dishes are better. View all feedback.
Old Reliable.... Always a good place for comfort food. I really like the yung chow fried rice, lemon chicken and chow fun noodles. When Ming does the cooking (owner) its very good but when someone else does it, its pretty good. Irene is a good hostess and its a step up from their old location on Victoria St. and 33rd Ave East. Its a good in-between resto catering to the true Chinese palate and the Canadian palate.
Excellent Chinese food; great prices. Consistently flavorful food; nice for eat in and/or take out.
Great place. Fresh food, not greasy, reasonable portions and prices, clean place with a nice atmosphere and helpful service. Was full of Chinese families when we were there, obviously a popular place. Yum.
Whenever we walk by at dinnertime, this place is packed with Chinese families. This is not surprising given the quality of the food. We've visited or ordered out a few times, and we've always experienced good food and good service. The prices are somewhat higher than comparable places, but then rent in Kerrisdale isn't cheap.
This is an expensive Chinese restaurant for what you get. To be fair, I've only gotten take out from this restaurant and every time I come to pick up, it's been busy. Take out for half a chicken was $15.80 (expensive to begin with) but now they've switched to free range so the price has gone up an additional $3. $5 for 2 cold, greasy egg rolls. Whenever I order white rice for 2, it always comes in a single serving container. A few times they've forgotten the rice altogether. Service isn't friendly, the lady who runs the register (owner? Manager? Both?) always has a dour look, never smiles and barks out your order/phone number and generally just looks put upon when you try to get her attention to pick up and go. Their take out menu offers free delivery but each time I've requested, they tell me it's too busy and delivery can be up to an hour. Even when they've told me my order would be 15-20 minutes. It's fine Chinese food (not the best; not the worst. Middle of the road) but I've a feeling they've lasted as long as they have because it's Kerrisdale where there's no other real competition for authentic, tasty Chinese food.
