Last Saturday we returned to La Notte for another tasty dinner before heading on to the VSO. We discovered La Notte relatively recently, (about 3 4 years ago), and have enjoyed their meals immensely. The atmosphere is casual; there is a weekend piano player and the man who is playing now is excellent; the meals are consistently good and the service too. We have enjoyed many items from the menu over this time includin... View all feedback.
What Karianne Wyman doesn't like about Lanotte Restaurant:
I got the fettuccine and it was just tasteless, didn't have any flavor except for cream. The waiter was in a hurry the whole time and didn't really take her time for us. And the other waiter just ignored us. And the dessert all seemed prefab and again tasteless. My tiramisu was mushy and had only one flavor. There a pianist, and he was really nice but he played too loud so we had difficulty understanding each other. View all feedback.
Very quaint and the live piano music made it a perfect evening out. The young staff was so friendly and quite efficient. The meal serving was generous and tasty.
Me and my sister took our dad and her father in law for a Father’s Day dinner last night. This place has been around for decades and is a friendly local Italian neighbourhood restaurant that I have passed by everyday while taking the bus to UBC. Overall it was a nice experience. The staff were fantastic and super helpful and always around to top up the water glasses. They had live music in the form of a piano player which was a lovely touch. The decor was nice and atmospheric but can you do something about the sun in our eyes? They couldn’t close the drapes so we sat with the sun sweating while eating our pasta. The one issue with the restaurant was the food. It was good but not great. In a city with excellent Italian restaurants, this was a bit of a disappointment. Some pastas looked and tasted better than others. The puttanesca was better than the vongole. Dad’s veal dish looked and tasted better than all of our pastas our together. The antipasti was a bit of a disappointment. Nice but not super original or creative. One thing that really impressed me was that the restaurant gave all dads a small tomato plant to take home. I thought that was a kind and special touch. Well done. I will go back but will take care in what I select to eat and where I sit!
Pasta is of course the house specialty with generous servings, however there are other great dishes of veal as well, friendly servers and nice casual atmosphere, it won't dissapoint
Wonderful service and delicious food and they went out of their way to get me fruit for dessert when i couldnt have the sweet desserts.
This restaurant has been around for decades and I frequently drive by wondering if it is any good. Recently I had tickets to see a show on the UBC campus so I was looking for somewhere for an early dinner in the vicinity. Seemed like the perfect time to try this place out. I would say that if I lived in the Dunbar neighbourhood I might go here regularly. The food was good, I had the veal with a mushroom sauce, but not good enough for this to be destination for me. The prices were reasonable and it was welcoming to families, which, in my experience, is the way it is in Europe, so I report this in a neutral way this would be perfect for a family that is looking for a nice dinner out.
