We ate from the A La Carte menu. The service is the best feature of this restaurant, friendly, informative and attentive without being intrusive. The food was very good but not “best meal I've ever had” territory. My husband has the scallop and the lingcod. I had the duck terrine and the halibut. We shared a mille-feuille dessert which was not to my taste, but my husband ate it. We started with cocktails (large ice cubes! and drank a recommended BC Chardonnay which was delicious. The restaurant is dark and quite noisy with the tables close together. After it started emptying out at 9pm, conversation became easier.
4.5 ? Had a delicious meal here, the baked oysters are definitely a highlight starter, but I also enjoyed the artichoke tart (a bit lighter and refreshing with the mixed greens on top). The gnocchi with mushrooms and fried sage had a wonderful flavor and texture, and the halibut with lemon buerre blanc was light and citrusy. The Mille Feuille was larger and more decadent that we were expecting, but the ice cream accompanying it was so good; definitely plenty to split among 2-4 people.
Had the chef's menu. It was first class, well thought out, and a tremendous culinary variety
Absolutely amazing. I cant say enough good things about this wonderful and cozy restaurant. Our waiter was so personable- Chris, you made our meal all the more lovely. The food was simply outstanding. A beautiful combination of flavors and everything was cooked to perfection. The baked oysters were the most wonderful mouthful of flavors and textures to start our meal. The agnolotti were pillow soft and the lemon sauce was so good I finished what was left with a spoon. This will be my first stop for dinner the next time I come to Vancouver! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
An absolute gem in the heart of Gastown! L'Abattoir delivered an exceptional dining experience from start to finish. We opted for the Chef's Tasting Menu, and it was a spectacular journey. Each course was thoughtfully crafted, beautifully presented. The ambiance is intimate and chic, with a vibrant energy that makes it feel special without being stuffy. To top it all off, the service was impeccable. Our servers were attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely warm, guiding us through the menu and ensuring our evening was flawless.
