India Abroad Restaurant - Vancouver

I’ve heard that the Butter Chicken from this place is nothing short of legendary, and given how it has to have the longest lineup at this food court on Hornby, the rumors must be true! After waiting in line for around 5-10 minutes, I finally got to lay my eyes on the prize.

Whenever I have a hankering for curry, I hit up India Abroad. It's nothing fancy as it's in a food court, but it is pretty damn good. I usually grab the chicken curry and chickpeas. You can order naan if you like but I usually skip it.

I found that they serve one of the better butter chickens I 've had here in Vancouver. Although the line was quite long during the lunchtime period, their service was quick and easy. I was originally concerned with the somewhat 'small ' portion size but it definitely filled me up a lot longer than other lunch options. It was worth the money I paid. They didn 't accept my MasterCard Credit card which is a downside had to have a friend pay for me!

Food is above average but the dish you don't wanna miss is chickpeas veggie (chole bhature). $15 is enough for one person to dine. Much better than other Indian restaurants in Downtown Vancouver which will give you authentic spicy Indian taste.

Butter butter buttertime. Time to sit back and rewind. The Food Court – it was the best of times it was the worst of times.  It is the place where dreams are forged and where they’re shattered. So much to eat, so little time and you make one wrong decision, there goes your future happiness.  Make the right decision though, and your whole world is shining, shimmering, and splendid. Heed my words and take victory – spend the few extra moments it takes to leisurely stroll the entire court, weighing each option carefully in your mind.  Mentally list the good, the bad, and the ugly because when it finally comes to game time, you’ll be ready with your game face on. Without fail, this is the approach I take to the court and it was no different this time at International Food Court just a hop skip jump from the corner of West Pender and Hornby. Trust me when I say my final decision to settle on the  Butter Chicken  at  India Abroad  was an agonizing one because this court is a man among men and choosing just one is near impossible. Arriving before noon, it’s a sight for sore eyes to see an almost abandoned food court because beginning at 12 pm, you can bet there’ll be a lineup for this Indian delight all the way through the lunch rush. For under $8, you can get yourself a fair sized portion of  Rice, Butter Chicken, Salad and a Pappadum  to boot.  Add a piece of  Nan  and you’ll be rolling your way to the end of the day for under $10.
