The food here is outstanding! You absolutely must try the lobster sticky steamed rice—it's a definite must-order. The seafood options are also incredibly delicious. View all feedback.
What Gordonchef doesn't like about Ho Yuen Kee Restaurant:
Plates r small. Prices mid 25 and up. Their specialty dish. Lobster with sticky rice isn’t that special. Sauté lobster in sauce with rice n corn. Any Richmond food court can make . 38$/lb for lobster this.. 75$ dish not worth imo. View all feedback.
Authentic Cantonese restaurant serving family meals of dishes and rice. They also do individual plates of fried rice, noodles or a topping on rice. The service is fast and efficient. The food is authentic and freshly cooked to order. The prices are reasonable as the portions are generous.A good place to have a group dinner and also if you are dining alone.
Food is pretty good honestly, especially the price is quite reasonable when you compare to other Richmond Chinese restaurants. Lobster rice is not as good as before the pandemic, crab and fish are great!Service is not bad when it’s not busy; when busy, a bit hard to get attention from servers.Interior is really good. Good thing is you can use credit card, but Visa only.Overall, it’s good place for family/friends gathering at a affordable price.
Ho Yuen Kee offers the best authentic Hong Kong noodle house (think Chinese fast food from the 70's era) in Vancouver. Their shrimp wontons are stuffed with enough prawns for a fancy western seafood dinner. Their noodles are cooked to perfection to be just soft enough yet retain the al dente aspect of chewyness and goodness. Their congee bowls are hearty with lots of flavours and fillings. Best part is their prices are much closer to pre-pandemic price levels compared to similar venues. Highly recommend if you long for a true taste of 70's Hong Kong.
Many options for rice porridge. The fish fillet congee was good. The pork preserved egg dried scallop congee was too fishy. The salty fish chicken tofu fish was good.Dishes are quite large portion for dinner (they have small portion dish but not for dinner).
