When there are people in suits and construction workers eating lunch in the same place, you know it is probably good. This is a hole in the wall joint that has great pho, salad rolls and other offerings. it is crowded at lunch but less so in the early evening. View all feedback.
What George S doesn't like about Ha Long Bay Restaurant:
We're the only 2 customers and the staff can't be bothered to serve us. Ordered two of the same soups. One came out hot and the other one was cool. After paying I asked why so differed? The old lady in the kitchen came out and caused quite a scene. Glad I didn't mention how tasteless it was. Plenty of better places to eat. View all feedback.

When I went there, I saw Vietnamese in the title, and went to eat there, service was bad, food was bad, and every order from the menu includes a 55 cents fee a 18% charge, said they cant EXPLAIN, absolutely terrible, food was in small portions too.
Disclaimer: This one star review is only for the quality of their service. In all honesty, their food is good but nothing too special. 2.5 stars for their food. I have been here many times in the past half year or so. The first few times were great. Food came out in a timely manner during a lunch rush and the food tasted great. However, recently in the past 2 months or so, their service has been greatly lacking to the point that I refuse to step back in this establishment again. I 'm not sure if they 're short staffed during the lunch rush, but when I went there today it was not that busy. Important things to note: We ordered a salad roll and two iced coffees in a to go cup (we 've always asked for the coffee in a to go cup as we never finish it there and just take it back to the office). So, 10 minutes later, we receive the salad rolls not a problem. However, 35 minutes into our stay there, we had not received our bowls of pho or our coffee and we saw that other tables who had ordered and sat down after us had all received their food. When we asked our waitress, she said it was because we ordered a salad roll so we don 't get our pho until after every other table who hasn 't ordered a salad roll gets their bowls. Frankly, i found this explanation to just be a sorry excuse. This restaurant knows that most of their clientele eats here during their lunch break. Do they expect us to down our bowls of pho in 10 minutes? I have never been in a pho restaurant that makes customers wait for their pho because they ordered an appetizer . A table of two who sat down around the same time as us ended up leaving as they didn 't receive anything either. In the end, two of our table cancelled their orders right before the food came because we had to go back to work. The owner seemed shocked that we were cancelling our order. When we went up to the till to explain, the waitress then handed us our iced coffees that she said have been sitting there for about 10 minutes. If you guys know Vietnamese coffee, you know that they pour the strong coffee over ice. So at this point, that coffee tasted like water and I refused to pay for it. Again, they looked surprised. The past few times that i 've been to this restaurant i have had to wait for my food for almost 45 minutes. Today will be the last time i step into this establishment. As a note to the owners, if you expect customers to stay, give tables their food in the order that you took their order. It feels really bad when you see tables who sat down 10 15 minutes after you receive their food while you 're still waiting. It 's especially insulting that afterwards you give an unreasonable excuse to try and save face. 10/10 would not recommend coming here during busy times.
Small restaurant located downtown on Pender St Not much elbow room to enjoy your meal Depending on what one orders servings can be small for the price paid. We ordered 6 spring rolls. They were fairly small, came to the table piping hot, loaded with hot grease dripping from them. Taking a few napkins to try and blot the grease did not work very well. We also had the chicken, vermicelli, spring roll combination. The chicken was too well done, and very chewy. Would return for another meal, I think not.
