(3.5/5) We’ve been eager to try DK Chicken since it opened a few months ago, and now it’s one of two KFC-style options near our home in Aldergrove. Located in a strip mall on Langley’s west side, right beside H Mart, the restaurant looks small from outside but is surprisingly spacious inside, with cozy corners and more private spots off the main dining area. The décor is sleek and inviting, featuring a black color scheme with booths, tables, and stylish touches—I wish I had taken more photos! K-Pop music plays throughout, with videos displayed on three large TVs around the room. But the food was the real highlight, and we weren’t let down. The Spicy Rice Cake was full of flavor, including fish cake and sweet potato noodles. The heat was mild, as the name suggests, balanced nicely by the cool side dishes. Marie and I especially enjoyed the pickled daikon, as usual. The Kimchi Fried Rice was tasty too, topped with a fried egg and paired with a fresh side salad. Although the portion wasn’t very large for $13, the presentation was impressive and the flavor made up for it. For our main, we ordered a half portion of the Sweet and Spicy Bone-In Chicken. It leaned more towards sweet than spicy, tender with that classic crispy KFC-style skin, even under the sauce. It was good, if fairly standard, and a bit on the pricey side. They didn’t seem to offer a full order with two different flavors at a single price—instead, you pay for two half orders, which felt a bit confusing. Maybe we misunderstood the menu and should have asked our friendly and efficient server. The menu isn’t overwhelming, focusing mainly on fried chicken, but there are some intriguing choices like spicy snails and clam soup that I’m eager to try next time, along with various rice and noodle dishes. Overall, I definitely recommend giving DK Chicken a visit!
