Came here for lunch for the first time. Had a bowl of pho with beef balls and rare beef and it did not disappoint. The servings were generous and the prices were decent. I think the soup was done just right. I'm not a fan of salty soup in my pho and this one was pretty spot on. Someone at another table ordered a broken rice dish and it looked amazing. Will definitely have to go back to try that. View all feedback.
What อังคณา กิตติธร doesn't like about Bon Cafe:
Food was decent. Their spring rolls have really big portion but cost almost $13, so it's hard to finish if you only have a group of 2 people. Also am not a fan of how they charge mandatory 15% tips, so would likely not go back since there are similar alternatives nearby. View all feedback.
This is a small Vietnamese joint located on the corner of Main Street and 33rd Avenue. They have a menu consisting of pho, rice dishes, vermicelli and drinks. I had their Grilled Lemongrass Chicken, Deep Fried Spring Roll on Rice Vermicelli and Vietnamese Coffee. I really enjoyed the food. The prices were a bit on the higher end, but not unreasonable. This is a spot that's definitely worth a visit.<br/ <br/ Grilled Lemongrass Chicken, Deep Fried Spring Roll on Rice Vermicelli $12.25):<br/ 3.5/5<br/ I really enjoyed the spring roll, which was very crispy and had a nice savoury filling. The chicken was quite tender and juicy, although I would have liked it to be a bit more charred, and it was a tad underseasoned. The pickled vegetables were quite nice, but <br/ <br/ Vietnamese Coffee, Cold $5):<br/ 4/5<br/ This consisted of drip coffee in a filter that's over a cup containing a layer of condensed milk. You wait for the coffee to slowly flow into the cup and mix it with the milk. I wanted the coffee to be cold, so it came with a glass of ice. The coffee was quite strong and had a perfect balance of sweetness and bitterness with the condensed milk.<br/ <br/ Summary:<br/ Food: 4/5<br/ Price: 3.5/5<br/ Service: 3/5<br/ Overall: 3.5/5<br/ Recommendations: Grilled Lemongrass Chicken, Deep Fried Spring Roll on Rice Vermicelli, Vietnamese Coffee
Hidden Gem. I regret not trying Bon Cafe sooner. A true hidden gem, the food is fantastic. I make sure to order the lemongrass chicken at least once a week.
Was waiting for a table at Au Petit Cafe. Strolled over to the corner of 33rd and Main, and spotted Bon Cafe. I drove by millions of times. Never thought much about it. The exterior needs some professional advise. Not saying it needs to be pretentious....I ordered a Bun Bo Hue. Just like ordering a Chirashi sushi at different sushi restaurants, you'll get the idea how good of a sushi restaurant they are. This is one mean Bun Bo Hue! I was sweating, nose running. Accompanied with a generous size of Soda Lemon, this combination hits the right spot! I will definitely return. Next time I will try their Pho Dac Biet. Another good measuring stick, so to speak. One side note...if they haven't pasted a bubble drink sign on the window, I would have visited long time ago.
Still somehow a secret. This little gem has fantastic pho and the sandwiches are killer. They have been there for years and yet are still not packed. Atmosphere is seriously lacking (4/10 as they have pictures of their food under the glass topped tables and lace curtains) The food is 9.5/10 service 7/10 family run (not everyone speaks english) but the food is so good it is worth it. We eat here Sundays. and sometimes another day of the week if we can sneak it into our schedule)
Had lunch & dinner there while visiting Vancouver for the week. It is a small restaurant; seats approximately 30 people. Great value for the price & a must if you are staying in the area.
