Lovely restaurant for a date night. Over looks the beach and if you time it right you can watch the sunset. Staff were friendly and efficient. Seafood dishes were very good. Non-seafood dishes were average. Not a great selection of beers on tap. But a large selections wines and cocktails. As well as a few select desserts. If I was being extremely critical you have to pass staff to go downstairs to the toilet. Valet p... View all feedback.
What Ingirós Grankells doesn't like about Boathouse Restaurant:
1 star is generous. The decor of this place needs to be seen to be believed. Why paint a beautiful beachfront restaurant dark red? What were they thinking? To say the place needs TLC is an understatement, this restaurant reeks of under investment: great location, bored staff, awful service, tired music, clientele looking as uninterested as the owners. The food is actually decent, fresh fish with simple trimmings and a decent B.C. wine list. But, the ambience is depressed, desperate and depressing. Our hostess kept us waiting on the grim entrance stairs for 10 minutes before escorting us to a half empty restaurant. Our server arrived after 10 minutes apologise for having been busy. She was sweet, but the venue is lost. Sorting this out wouldn't be hard, for now avoid.
Looking for lunch at the English Bay, Vancouver and were recommended to visit The Boathouse. As my husband is disabled we were seated at a table close to the bar (Ground floor). Most of the other guests were seated on the Upper floor. Therefore, we felt a bit lonely. The staff was very attentive. We didn't wait long for the food. My husband had a pasta with seafood, I had Ahi Tuna. Both dishes were very tasteful.

My friends and I went for a meal to try out Vancouver's seafood and was reccomended here. The place was quaint, decent scenery, spacious, the waitresses were friendly and helpful but nothing exceptional. I opted for the surf and turf but instead of a steak asked for king crab with my lobster. So the meal takes a while but comes and it was incredible, probably one of the best seafoods I've ever had. The issue I had when I got the bill, $90. So despite substituting they billed me full price for both combo meals, despite me not recieving any steaks. While the meal was good it was not 90$ good, I mean for 90$ i assumed they handpicked the lobster and crab from damn Spongebob.
We have not been to Vancouver in a few years. The boathouse deck/patio is one of the places we visit every visit. This year we went early on Saturday, the August long weekend at 2:00 PM. We wanted on the patio but were told there was a private function that they were preparing for. We had realized it was the Celebration of Lights later that evening and the reason why we went early in the day. Very disappointing. However, our server, Craig, and the food were fabulous. The Happy Hour food we ordered was the Calamari and the Coconut Sweet Chili Shrimp. The Calamari was just 'calamari'... BUT the Coconut Shrimp were FABULOUS! Neither my husband or I are big on coconut but these were extremely tasty. Our only complaint was that there were only 4 shrimp instead of 6!!!Food was good and Craig was fabulous! Definitely will return but hopefully to the patio.
