Bao Down Gastropub and Raw Bar

Came here with my mom when she was visiting and we were pleasantly surprised by how good the food was. My mom is Filipino and so she enjoyed seeing some Filipino inspired dishes and she is very picky about restaurants and especially ones that serve Filipino food in general and said this would definitely be one restaurant she would go back to.

We've always trolled for variations on the Vietnamese Thai Chinese cuisines and to find a place that tries to mash it in a more hip setting was awesome.We came during happy hour and managed to destroy a few delicious share plates. The yvr and chicken baos were absolutely delicious. The kimchi pork poutine good but could have used something more in way of sauce/gravy/cheese to keep it together.2 thumbs up for chicken wings and lettuce wrap. I'll be back soon to sample rest of menu!

Sat at the bar top. Bartender served us and was fantastic! Friendly, and recommended awesome dishes. The fly rice was on special for $10.00, and was so good, big portion! Also, had a couple baos, and the kimchi fries. We couldn't finish it all. The happy hour looked like a great deal, but we had just missed it.Casual atmosphere, good food, and service, I would come back!

Tasty, different and a fun spot to visit. Food options are more comfort and you can grab a drink there as well, music is always on and service is very good.

Wow! A Vancouver restaurant with some atmosphere AND killer food.I went here on a Friday night and it was just what I like in a restaurant.Fun, loud, happy, just a great vibe.As for the food, it was outstanding.They do a great job with the raw bar and the Asian fusion thing. I only tried one "bao" (the chicken) and it was good, but honestly it's the other dishes I would go for:The poke and the pork shoulder are must gets.The chicken "wing like" apple is killer as well.Didn't get any dessert, but there was a decent choice of draft beer and wines. Didn't pay attention to the spirits.I would strongly encourage you to go and check this place out. Probably more fun for a larger group so you can try more of the dishes.Note: went back again on a Monday and it was much quieter, totally different vibe, but still awesome good.Either way, you can't go wrong with the food, just depends on if you want a fun, loud night out, or a quiet chill evening. Either way, the food will be incredible!
