Pad thai was just right, not so sweet or sour. They give you plenty of sprouts and nuts so that's very good. Curry was delicious. Crispy spinach salads was amazing as well. It seems that this is one of the few Thai places that really take pride in serving up authentic Thai as compared to the others. Highly recommended View all feedback.
What Louisa Sanford doesn't like about Aree Thai Restaurant:
I order takeout from here monthly - so close, decent food, no wait, other nearby thai are similarly priced but much busier. Almost no foot traffic; can't see how they survive. Menu sees no changes or creativity, but kind service. Location is killing this place, not the food. Go here for a quiet, no-wait, basic Thai dinner. Not romantic or particularly kid-friendly ambience. View all feedback.
Nice food, authentic thai food, quick takeout service. I tried the chicken satay and the original pad thai. Both were excellent
We stopped in for a quick meal and were impressed with the prompt and pleasant service, nice family atmosphere, clean premises, and great tasting food. A few other reviewers might take issue with the "authenticity" of the meals when compared to a favored local place of thieir own, an experience dining upscale ... or in Thailand -- which may not be fair comparison. We concur with the majority of reviewers, that the curries here are very tasty and Aree is a great place overall.
My wife and I went to Aree last night, and reminisced about out time in Thailand last summer. Aree definitely nailed some of the authentic Thai flavours in most dishes.Som Tam Salad: we had #3 (of 5) spicy and it was the spiciest thing we ordered. Good texture to the green papaya, but this simply didn't compare to the Som Tam we had in Thailand. It was good, but not great.Tom Yum Soup: Fabulous. Lots of good veg, and perfect blend of spices. Get this. You won't be disappointed.Pad Thai: Not a difficult dish to make to a mediocre level, but Aree did far more than mediocre. Their Pad Thai was amazing. Great spicy. Perfect balance of sweet. The texture (noodles, veg and prawns) was perfect. Great earthy and smoky flavours balanced in. Best dish of the night (can't wait to sneak the left-overs before my wife gets to them.)Green Curry (chicken) with Coconut Rice: This is the one I was most looking forward to, but was most disappointed with. Too creamy, too coconutty. I'll leave these left-overs in the fridge for someone else. (Granted, I should have ordered the jasmine rice instead of the coconut rice, but in a place like Aree, whatever the server recommends as default aught to be the best choice.)Good prices, friendly service, little atmosphere. I'd recommend going, but can't give it more than a 3*.
Great service! Great Thai Food! This place is one of few that lives up to its expectation on Yelp! Yeah, finally found a real tasty Thai food in Vancouver. We have came here on 3 separate occasions and each time their food and services had not disappointed us! Our favorites: Authentic shrimp Pad Thai and Basil Beef Stir Fried Flat Rice Noodles (the later one comes with egg noodles as standard, but the dish goes equally well with flat rice noodles). Fresh ingredients, great presentation. Lots of flavor with twist. Yum yum! Others on Yelp like their Tum Yum Soup. I have tried it but it is too mild, not sour and short of kick, not living up to my expectation as it is quite different than those ones I had in Thailand. And my only complaint is their portion which in general is quite small with respect to its price. Still my favourite thai food in town! I will be back!
