Great tuna roll, but I found the restaurant to be a little stingy with the ginger and spicy sauce for having to pay for them. 75 cents for the tiniest thimble of sriracha, and 75 cents for the same amount of ginger you get elsewhere, and calling it extra. View all feedback.
What Johann Hermann doesn't like about Akira Sushi:
Had dinner with a friend middle of the week. Just picked it as we were walking along Denman. The place is small, but the staff are efficient and service was good. Ordered the house boxes, and they were ok. Definitely not the best I've had, but also not the worst. Middle of the road. Ok for a quick occasional choice if you are hungry and right there. Great sushi and fast service. Eat in or take out to the beach. Fastest in town and a definite locals' favourite.
Traveling to Vancouver without having to deal with kids means I had the ability to experience life as a tourist a little bit more. So after attending the free Thursday night Vancouver Folk Music Festival at Jericho Park, I ended up at Akira Sushi with...More
We got take out a couple of nights. They are open late, service is quick and the meals are generous, tasty and reasonably priced. We had sushi and a teriyaki udon dish - all good.
As I was walking up and down Denman Street looking for a place to take away my mea,l I came upon Akira Sushi. After looking over the photos and descriptions on the menu on the street I decided on the Dynamite Dragon roll. The price was great and the wait wasn't long and soon I was on my way back to my hotel with my dinner. You can have your meal inside but I wanted to get back to my hotel after a full day of walking the city. I will defiantly go back when I return in November.
I was out for a walk and this little restaurant caught my eye. It didn't look busy but it looked clean and inviting. I had a nice selection of sushi and miso soup to start. They offer the option of black rice rather than the white that I'm familiar with. Wow, what a nice change. There is a small eat in area and a busy take out. I'd come back and if you go in try the black rice.
