Vals is a small Swiss town, high atop a long twisting road out of Ilanz. Once in the square, public parking can be accessed behind the Hotel Gasthaus Edelweiss. The menu is varied Swiss, yet the pizzas are amazing. Go for the raclette pizza. Most certainly try to sit outside, with views of the mountains, the church and the square. View all feedback.
What Rebecca Fiore doesn't like about Edelweiss:

Lovely local food in a very authentic setting. Very good for vegetarians, I particularly enjoyed the Rösti and the Spätzli dishes there.

Very nice and friendly location. The restaurant was fully book and we did not have reservation. The owner kindly asked a couple sitting in a table for 6 person to share the table with us. The dinner was good. Local cuisine with very reasonable pricing.
We stopped here in the evening for dinner the place looks dated on the inside, but the waitress was very welcoming. She spoke at least fluent German, Italian and English. We opted for the cheese fondue for two, which is served with bread. For an extra CHF 6 you can order extra's we opted for potatoes. We could have done without the potatoes, as the provided bread is actually enough. It's served with a short wait, and tasted good. Nothing special, but cozy and friendly. Happy to eat here again
We came here for dinner. We had deer with spätzli and schnitzel with fries. Both good and honestly priced. The waitress was really friendly and welcoming, she spoke German, Italian, French and English. We would come back
