If you're looking for real Mexican food, this is the place to go. I finally don't have to make my own chilaquiles or go all the way to Mexico to get them. And with made-in-house hot sauces of every heat level, you can make any meal as spicy as you like. Friendly staff and good coffee just make the experience that more enjoyable.NOTE: If you're looking for nachos with taco beef go somewhere else, that's not real Mexic... View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Rojo Marron Mexican Restaurant & Cafe:
I often drive through Hinton on the way to somewhere else and often stop for lunch. Today I thought I would give Rojo Marron a try because I like Mexican food (the real stuff from Mexico, not Taco Bell or equivalent). Roja Marron was just...a short drive off the highway and it was quite nice visually. However, it cost $19 for a bland burrito and a soft drink. Not that big either for what they charged. I highly recommend this restaurant! It is one of the few authentic, classic Mexican restaurants in Alberta. The street tacos are amazing - we recommend ordering 3 chicken and 3 pork as one order comes with 6 tacos. We also tried the shrimp tacos, which were pretty good, although the shrimp was deep fried. The shrimp was cooked perfectly, not rubbery, but the batter was a bit too much for our liking. The homemade hot sauces were incredible - we tried three different kinds, including a spicy brown one, a medium hot red one with great flavour, and a creamy and flavourful green jalapeño one. We really enjoyed combining the green and red sauces on our tacos for a creamy, spicy, and flavourful kick. We also ordered the nachos as an appetizer, which were honestly just mediocre, but they made a good starter, especially if you are hungry. We ordered takeout and the process was quick when we called in our order - we only had to wait about 15 minutes before picking it up. We even drove down to the river, which was about a 10-minute drive, and when we opened the food, it was still hot and not soggy at all.
Food, service, and interior is great! Shrimp tacos and the street tacos are fantastic!!
When you walk into RM, you are welcomed by a spacious room filled with dark wood. The menu is just the right size, with no unnecessary items. We started with the Elote appetizer, which was so delicious that we had to get one for everyone. For our main course, we ordered Tacos and shrimp fajitas. The dishes were delicious, flavorful, and came in generous portions. After chatting with the extremely friendly staff, we left with a to-go bag in hand. We are glad we tried this place out and highly recommend it.
We stopped by Rojo for dinner and were pleasantly surprised. Being vegetarians, we get a few options but Rojo has so many for us to pick from. We had the street tacos with mushrooms the presentation and taste were both wow! , fajitas plate and enchiladas. The taste was spot on for each dish and the service was prompt, warm and amazing! The kids had the churros and absolutely devoured them! Such a gem of a restaurant! PS: Don't forever to ask for their sauces bucket. A couple of the sauces had a nice kick!!
Very good food, although my chimichanga could have been hotter. Really nice atmosphere with great music and fun decor. My husband had the chorizo street tacos and he enjoyed them. The best things though was the sauces. So many great ones to try and lots of flavours from mild to quite hot. The server was friendly but kinda rushed us which I didn't understand because we were the only ones there. Good portion size. I was stuffed and couldn't finish mine. Worth the stop
