We arrived here for dinner on a rainy Friday evening. It didn’t look promising. The place was nearly empty, and when we saw the prices of the main courses on the menu we were a bit worried, but we were too wet to move so...we stayed. We were very glad we did. Firstly the place filled up with locals from 9 onwards and was packed when we were leaving. Then the prices on the menu- don’t be afraid. The starters and desserts are typical very low, great value Portuguese prices. The main course prices on the menu look very high- but as we realised they are really meant for 2 people, for sharing, so in fact they are very reasonable. The food itself is excellent- the food seems to be cooked on a wood fired grill we think as it has a very distinctive flavour and is delicious. The chicken in particular was really tasty. The “beef of the house” was a large portion of steak, topped with ham, cheese and egg, for 12.50- accompanied by very nice chips. Excellent. The host poured us some very generous sized glasses of wine, and overall we had a lovely enjoyable meal- highly recommended.
Food was great, but beware they get quite crowded during lunch hour, from about 12:30 pm 2:30 pm, and many people left due to the long wait (remember, this is Europe, people take their time over their meals). Was seated at a dirty...table, waited 20 minutes for the table to be cleared and for menus. But once we got past that, the food was good, nice wines as well.
Eating was great, but intentional that they will be fairly crowded during the midday hour, about 12:30 pm 2:30 pm, and many people went due to the long waiting period (remember, this is Europe, people take their time over their meals). table set, waited for 20 minutes to delete the table and for menus. but as soon as we came by, it was also good to eat, nice weeping.
Good food, good ambience, good service, good prices. Definitely a restaurent to add to your must visit list.
My wife and I had dinner here it was delicious. We both choose the Salmon which was excellent, plenty of food very well cooked. We had a biscuit cake for desert and a local port to finish. We had a house verde which was perfect....The staff were great and prices were reasonable. We highly recommend this restaurant but come early as it gets very busy.
