Several locals had recommended La Fonda Angeleta over the past couple of years and at last we went to try it out. We were not disappointed. As many Spanish contributors have mentioned they have weekend menus at 3 prices: 20€, 25€ and 30€ depending on your choice of main course. Starters are common to all 3 and there are more than 15 possibilities and it´s very hard to choose as they all sound so appetising. We went for the 20€ version. As very original starters we had artichoke hearts filled with a delicious mix of cod parmesan and a crêpe with a spinach, ham, raisin, pine nut and bechamel filling. Mains were equally original: squid in a garlic and parsley sauce and an Anglo-Aragonese creation of 'longaniza ' sausage with a Cheddar cheese topping. Desserts were a warm chocolate cake and 'tarta de la abuela ', very sweet but just like Spanish grandmothers used to make with biscuits, banana....pure comfort food! Wine (a very good local Crial 2017), mineral water and coffee is included..
To my opinion, this is one of the best restaurants in the area. We visited the restaurant during a long weekend. We were a group of 10 adults and 4 children. The service was very nice the whole time. All the food we tasted was great, specially the lamb and a the migas: a typical dish made with chorizo, eggs and bread crumbs. They have an large wine list as well with particularly good options.
