Van plants from plants is a harder place to come! weeks we have tried to make reservations, but every weekend has booked it solid. but we had luck with this wee... read more Van plants from plants is a harder place to come! weeks we have tried to make reservations, but every weekend has booked it solid. but we had luck with this weekend: they had another place to lunch. we go to utrecht! van planten is located in a residential area, about 30 minutes walk from the city center. it is easy to find and looks like a real idealist place. this is the kind of vegan restaurant where people try to save the world as they can. that means recycled furniture and simple decoration. if they are lucky, they are greeted by the only carnivore at the place: a red cat that lives in the restaurant and is supervised by the personal. this is exemplary for the owner who runs a small animal shelter (mostly horses) from the redeemed restaurants. The lunch menu is very limited: it has only 4 options. 1 of them needs at least 2 persons. we chose the Kimchi rice bowl and open scrambled egg sandwich. both were served perfectly and within reasonable time. the rice bowl consists of fried rice, vegetables (including cutlery and omlet strips). to our surprise, it was not to be found on the teller! it turns out that the kimchi is used only as taste, while stir fry, so there is no actual kimchi on the plate. all flavors are mild and subtle, so if in doubt, this is a simple menu option that everyone likes. the rührei sandwich consists of a bungalow with so much vegan egg and sweet that it never fits. there is the bungalow open and its to the customer to lay spoons full of egg and vegetables on the bungalow and eat. prepare for a tasty yet tasty experience! So it was worth waiting and numerous attempts to make a reservation at van planten? Yeah, but don't let your hopes get too high. the reservation problem is mainly restricted to corona and less due to popularity. that said eating is very good and far outclassed the many vegan almost food places that has utrecht. van planting is not an exquisite or exceptional place, but it offers good food at a good price that is worth waiting for.

Just as before we were greeted by the friendly staff with open poor and ate the most beautiful creations. You can sit outside, but we choose to sit inside. the house cat was quite the attraction and got a lot of attention. normally my fiance and I share the dishes to taste as much as possible, so we did this time. I especially like the mixed grill, it was delicious! a bit to season for some of my party, but I think it differs per person. normally we play a game of chess, but we will leave this for the next time because I am sure we will soon come back to home hopefully when their amazing milkshakes are back

The atmosphere, th... read more After waiting a few days to try this restaurant, it was definitely worth the wait as it was a highlight of our dining experience in the city! The atmosphere, the staff, and the food all met our expectations and we thoroughly enjoyed our time there. The menu may not be extensive, but it makes for easier and quicker decision-making. We tried the croquettes with radish mayo and fish and chips for our main courses, both of which were delicious. Even the side salad was tasty. We hope to visit this restaurant again in the future.
