Ventura’s offers a nostalgic dining experience that fuses old-school Italian charm with hearty, comforting dishes. While the restaurant boasts attentive service and a warm ambiance, some food items fell short of expectations, such as an overly breaded eggplant parmesan and frozen desserts. However, standout dishes like rigatoni with vodka sauce and lighter fettuccine alfredo receive high praise. Despite occasional lapses in attention due to a busy atmosphere, diners appreciate the friendly staff and the establishment's efforts to uphold traditions. Ventura’s remains a beloved spot in Utica, promising to delight with its inviting character and home-like flavors.

I felt like I was taken back in time to my Italian roots and I was happy to tell the owner how much I enjoyed the atmosphere of the restaurant. The rigatoni with vodka sauce was delicious and the waiter suggested a nice, simple Chianti to pair with it. However, the broccoli side dish was a bit undercooked and they did not serve a salad with the meal. The city of Utica is clearly struggling, especially with COVID still impacting businesses. It was evident that the restaurant was short-staffed, with employees serving too many tables to provide proper attention. The restaurant is popular for large family and business gatherings, sometimes causing tables to be overlooked. I hope that enough people continue to support this restaurant so that it can return to its previously excellent level.

I would give this restaurant 6 stars if I could. The staff is professional, and the bartender and chef are both memorable characters. It is probably the most highly rated Italian restaurant in the area, likely due to its location. It offers a classic, old-school dining experience with wait staff in formal attire. I have tried every dish on the menu, including some off-menu items, and they have all been exceptional. The large vodka riggies, veal francaise, and seafood dishes are all made to perfection. For those who are familiar with Utica-style cuisine, this restaurant is a must-visit. While it is on the expensive side, the quality of the dishes justifies the price. Unlike other overrated restaurants in the area that serve subpar food, this restaurant serves authentic and delicious dishes.

I ordered the veal marsala at the restaurant. Unfortunately, it lacked flavor and the veal was tough, with only small pieces served.
