I specifically asked for it to be blacken... read more This was my first and last visit to this restaurant. I ordered the catfish, but I'm not even sure it was real catfish. I specifically asked for it to be blackened instead of breaded and substituted broccolini for the fries, which were supposed to come with coleslaw. However, the fish wasn’t blackened at all; instead, it had a breading that was fried to a hard, black crisp and was extremely dry and lacking in flavor. I couldn't eat it. The side dish looked like they had just pulled weeds from outside, and there was no coleslaw. I eventually brought it home to feed to wildlife, but I'm not sure they will want it either. The restaurant was clearly understaffed; our waitress was also acting as the bartender, and they desperately need someone who knows how to cook and run a kitchen. I was really disappointed, and to top it off, it took over an hour to get my food.

Although the restaurant was quite understaffed, the young woman who was handling everything except cooking did an outstanding job managing it all. The food was absolutely worth the wait! I will definitely return!

Last night was no exception, but I want to extend a special thanks and my highest... read more I’ve dined at Half Shell several times and have always had a great experience. Last night was no exception, but I want to extend a special thanks and my highest compliments to a young lady named Torina. It seemed that the rest of the wait staff might have called out for the holiday weekend, and Torina was juggling bartending, waiting tables, busing, and basically doing everything. Around 50 guests, including eight families, arrived at the same time, which could have been overwhelming for anyone. However, she and the kitchen staff made everyone’s experience outstanding. As someone who likes to take charge, I found myself wanting to jump in and help. I can’t express enough how impressed I am with Torina and the cooking team. Thank you all—you absolutely deserve a raise! As for those who didn’t show up, they should reconsider their commitment.
