I had a great time during my visit! The history of Paekakariki is truly fascinating, and the staff member I spoke with was knowledgeable about both the local area and its history. I would rate this place 5 stars for the beautifully presented museum and the efforts made to restore the railway station. An unexpected gem. Lots of local history, not just railway related.
Good run down on local history. Maori history as well as the military camp and railway
Check the hours and be gentle with the volunteers and you'll have a great experience!
Nice view into the past and the USA connection to the area. Kids liked it too!
A classic museum. Beautifully kept in a train station. Lovely helpful people as well.
