Great food, but extremely rude service ruined the experience We have enjoyed dining at Treff 2000 for many years during our holidays in Obertauern, and the food... read more Great food, but extremely rude service ruined the experience We have enjoyed dining at Treff 2000 for many years during our holidays in Obertauern, and the food has always been one of the main reasons we kept coming back. The kitchen consistently delivers tasty, well-prepared dishes, and until recently this restaurant was associated with many good memories. Unfortunately, our most recent visits completely changed that impression. We were treated very poorly by one of the staff members (the owner’s wife), who was openly rude, unfriendly, and unpleasant — not only toward us, but also toward other guests. The atmosphere became so uncomfortable that other staff members felt the need to apologize for her behavior, which made it clear that this was not an isolated incident. No matter how good the food is, being made to feel unwelcome and disrespected is not acceptable, especially when you are on holiday and simply want to enjoy a nice meal in a pleasant environment. Sadly, despite many good years at this restaurant, we will not be returning.

Unfortunately, the overall experience was heavily dragged down by the service, which lacked structure and basic organization. Even though everyone ordered at the same time, dishes arrived randomly and out of order. We waited over 20 minutes just to place our order, and then another long wait to receive the food. Some dishes didn’t arrive at all until we reminded the staff. To make things worse, we were very clear from the beginning that we don’t speak German. Because the service was disorganized, we were later asked about dishes we hadn’t ordered, and a mistake happened due to two dishes having extremely similar names in German. When the correct dish finally arrived later, the waiter became visibly angry and raised their voice, essentially blaming us for the confusion. The situation escalated unnecessarily over a misunderstanding that was caused by their own lack of order and communication. I can’t recommend this place unless it’s completely quiet. It feels understaffed and unprepared to handle busy hours or larger groups, and the poor service completely ruined what could have been an okay meal.
