The vibe here is great! Just what you would expect from small storefront loved by local college students. The employees are happy to serve you, suggest a favorite, make some jokes and keep everyone smiling. BUT, what really makes this place great is the bagels! Their bagels have that wonderful thin crust that is not crispy but still has a slight crunch as your bite into the best chewy, tender ring. Add a slather of o... View all feedback.
What Ani Torosyan doesn't like about Iv Bagel Cafe:
Food was very sub par. For a $17 bagel I 'm expecting flavor and good ingredients. The added egg was basically some awful smelling styrofoam looking/textured steamed egg patty which absolutely came from some egg solution. No actual eggs being cracked. And the coffee was disgusting. Burned and not drinkable. Went straight into the trash. Nasty all around. And the service is slow and with an attitude especially the cou... View all feedback.
I GOT THE WORST FOOD POISONING HERE… solid spot but can’t come back after that.
I waited 34 min to get 2 bagels with cream cheese. I didn’t get an apology. The guy responsible for my bagel was aloof (maybe he was high? , and didn’t call my number when he finally finished making it after 34 minutes. Not worth it for a very average bagel.
Asked for one of my bagels to have jalapeño cream cheese and one regular cream cheese. The guy who was working put my order onto the table but didn’t call out the order and I didn’t want to grab someone else’s food, I ended up standing there for almost 10 minutes waiting. While I was waiting I saw one of the girls eating the bacon used to make sandwiches with her gloves on(disgusting) Neither of my bagels were toasted, and the jalapeño cream cheese I ordered wasn’t there. These college students should take a class on how to work a basic job. It’s scary that these people are allowed to vote and drive cars.
Literally the same kind of vibe/people that I come across over the last 10 years! Good food, solid people, beautiful humanity.
This is a long-overdue review...so here we go!For some odd reason, finding a decent bagel is close to impossible in Santa Barbara. Perhaps we are too far from the East Coast metropolitan areas and largest Jewish populations? Who knows...Thankfully, within Isla Vista is this tiny Bagel Cafe. While I can't lie by saying they're spectacular, they're the best in the area. According to Spoon University list, they were rated one of the best best breakfast spots on a college campus. What makes them more enjoyable is not just the variety of bagel flavors (about 21 to choose from), but their sandwich creations. No matter if you stop by for breakfast or lunch, they've got you covered. My personal favorite sandwiches are the Eggle Plus, Super Emma, and The International.I will say that the one downfall is the inconsistency of orders given that the staff is predominant undergraduate students who simply need a job. Yet, if you can get over this one complaint, you'll quickly become a regular like myself. Join their Spot On Rewards Program for deals and discounts. I suggest ordering online which allows you to skip the long line by taking out.
