I had to come to this place again now that I’m back in town and it’s such a great breakfast spot. So much variety on their menu. I got the blood orange mimosa, bahn mi Benedict, and the strawberry rhubarb crepe. Everything was fantastic. Service was fast and friendly. View all feedback.
What Daniel Swimm doesn't like about The French Hen Cafe:
French toast is so undercooked that I end up eating soggy bread. Perhaps the reason is that the employer doesn 't pay its workers their dues. They charge YOU, the customer, a 5% health and wellness fee, and when brought to the waitresses, she said it was for their medical insurance. I must have missed the memo where I, the customer, not only pay your employees wages with tips but have to pay their medical as well? A... View all feedback.
Never again..... The place was crowded. I assumed that they must have very good food and service. I went on a Saturday afternoon to meet a friend. I ordered a fruit bowl which was $6 and a root vegetable plate which was also around $6. I was going to order a free range egg for $3 and I asked how many eggs do you get, she said just one egg. Wow, no thank you. My friend ordered the blueberry pancakes which were around $14 for three. They came with one tiny cup not was not even full of syrup. When she asked for another container of syrup after she received her food they said it was $3 more just for another tiny container of syrup. Ridiculous. For what I ordered I was expecting my fruit bowl to be bigger. Very small portions for what you pay. The root vegetables were a decent size. However, some of the bigger pieces were not thoroughly cooked. They almost had a crunchy undercooked taste to them. The waitress seemed like she had something else on her mind or better things to do because service was horrible. I had never been to a restaurant before where they took your order and no one came to check up on you to see how your food was. The only time someone came back to the table was to give you a bill. What a joke. When I complained about the vegetables that I ordered, it wasn't the waitress. She never came back to the table. It was a different person and she said Oh no they are not undercooked that's how they're supposed to be. They're cooked the night before.... Really? Wow. And then she got very condescending and all in my face asked me what do you want me to do? I said nothing, With a attitude like that, I did not want to have to deal with them ever again. On top of that, when I received my bill there was a junk fee for health and wellness. Like what is that? Who charges for health and wellness? I guess the food on the menu is not expensive enough. Just a junk fee for the restaurant to make more money. So if you want to be taken advantage of with mediocre expensive food that's cooked the night before and don't mind paying restaurant junk fees, then this place is for you......
Nice place with a flower store on the side, loved the catfish benefict
Cozy spot with a lovely atmosphere lots of light and greenery! For brunch, we got a sweet crepe to share. as well as the creole market hash and the catfish benedict. Everything was well portioned, well seasoned, and delicious!
