The laksa is inappropriately good, the people are super nice, but the tofu consistently blows my mind. Home made Tofu + veggies in the photo is RIDICULOUS. I go alone, but Good for large groups. Just call ahead. And they have ROOT BEER! A&w! View all feedback.
What Laura Alarcón doesn't like about Malacca Straits:
Had lunch with friends. The food was not authentic and it was the worst I have ever eaten. We had Hainanese chicken rice which was tasteless. The Asam fish was too sweet. The Wat Tan Hor was a clump of fried rice noodles sitting on a clear, floury sauce. My main gripe would be the Char Tao Kway, which did not even remotely resembled the real dish. Service is slow, I had fried bee hoon which tasted like detergent. The people here definitely don't want to be around....service with no smile!
I was trying to find a decent hainanese chicken, a lot of other places have "hainanese chicken" and serves normal white steamed chicken, MS did not
Been coming here since 2011. Food is consistent, reasonably priced. Service was quick, never a long wait.
This serves authentic Malaysian food (as attested by my Malaysian friend). Portion size is good. I particularly like the Lasi Lemak, Mee Goreng, and Bo Bo Cha Cha (for desert). The restaurant is not large and there are lot of customers. Food are served very fast. So this is not a place for chit-chat, but a place to enjoy the food and go.

I do not recommend this eatery to anyone. It does not represent Malaysian hawker cuisine. It was something the cook made up for unsuspecting diners, who do not know any better.
