A surprisingly good 'hidden gem' in a beautiful setting, no matter what the season. (Indoor and outdoor dining). Well worth the diversion off the highway. Loved the salt and pepper squid and prawns with salad. Watch the boats go by on the mighty Clarence river. Great place to stretch your legs after a long drive and reboot. The historic village of Ulmarra has a smattering of quaint small businesses like an op shop, c... View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Cafe Clarence:
Two Chicken Caesar salads. Little rock hard pieces of chicken, no Parmesan cheese,(how do you forget that on a caesar Hard poached egg and no taste in the bottled mayonnaise. The setting is lovely, but for a country pub charging city prices, have to...be careful about the food quality. View all feedback.
I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of this beautiful spot. Everything we ordered was delicious. We had the swarms with coleslaw and canned jalapeño (which was surprisingly tasty) and chips, as well as scallops with a green apple Thai salad. The steamed vegetables were excellent; they even made kale taste good! For dessert, we enjoyed rocky road, baked cheesecake, and ice cream. I highly recommend this place.
To south of grafton we drove a short way from the autobahn to visit again. we have been fully welcomed by COVID services. wet weather caused us to dinate inside and chose a table in the bar. the menu included a series of snacks, burgers, a full-fledged pizza menu and table specialities of restaurant-style dishes: something for everyone. the ladies shared a muted bao chicken roll and I had a prosciutto-based antipasto plate. the food was excellent. the order was at the theke and the meals were on the table fast, despite a busy Sunday clientele. drinks were offered by the bar at bar prices. our revisit was not disappointing.
Lovely shady, garden location overlooking river, friendly, welcoming staff and great food. Well worth a visit, or a stop when travelling.
Yesterday, we had a lovely lunch at a riverside beer garden with a delicious deer-sized salt and pepper squid and a Yamba pizza. We highly recommend this place! They also offer convenient access to nearby art galleries and shops. Be sure to check them out!
I thoroughly enjoyed my lunch at The Clarence Cafe in the Ulmarra Hotel. The staff were friendly and the location, set in a garden by the river, was beautiful. The food was excellent and reasonably priced. The extensive menu made it difficult to choose just one dish, but the portion sizes were generous. The garlic bread was amazing and the chips were delicious. The cafe is also dog-friendly, which was a nice touch. I only wish there was room for the heavenly-looking cheesecake on the menu.
