Rustic Inn Cafe - Two Harbors
Rustic Inn Cafe
Description
The Rustic Inn on the North Shore is a chef-driven destination offering inventive seafood, hearty classics and legendary scratch-made pies. Dishes are skillfully presented and generous, with standout flavors from mussels in curry to cajun halibut and walleye. Linen-covered tables, fresh flowers and scenic Lake Superior views create a welcoming, slightly upscale atmosphere. Service is warm but can be stretched during busy times, and prices tend toward the high side — yet many visitors consider it essential for memorable meals and outstanding pie.
Feedback
Food was over salted. Pie was raw on the bottom. Server was rude and told us nothing was wrong with our food. Expensive for a place that calls itself a cafe.
We got a recommendation at an art store in Duluth when she found out we were heading for Split Rock Lighthouse. She said it was the best pie anywhere, and she was in earnest. Now, around here we're partial to Lange's Restaurant pies in Pipestone, but the Rustic Inn is the place to go if you're looking for pie to savor. I got the special, a lunch of blue fin herring, and it was pan-fried to perfection. The wife got a great sandwich, and we both got pie, mine a five-layer chocolate pie and hers an apple crumble. Service was fantastic. It's a great place to stop.
Great Food and north shore ambiance. Friendly service. Would come back to again. Thanks for a great time with family from out of town.
I can't believe I haven't visited this place before. A quick drive from my backyard... I can't stop thinking about the food. We had the mussels in curry broth as an appetizer. No words can describe this dish. I kept finding myself closing my eyes to savor every bite to the fullest. We had the cajun dusted halibut as our entree. TO DIE FOR. I just can't stop thinking about these dishes... I want to go back right now! Our server was pleasant and prompt. Fresh flowers on the linen covered tables and an atmosphere that is welcoming. They're doing something right!
Before we came on vacation, all of our friends told us that the Rustic Inn has good food, but the prices are high, but we decided to check the place out after being disappointed at Blackwoods and Betty's. The prices were QUITE expensive, and that may be the only reason we don't return, the food was great though and service was wonderful. We were there on a weekday. It seemed that there was only one waitress that night and she had quite a few other tables. I kept wondering how she did it and still kept a smile on her face!! Very nice young lady, great food, prices were steep though. Overall, I would suggest that EVERYONE tries it at least once!!!
