Kole Deeg - Tulbagh
Kole Deeg
Description
Nestled on Tulbagh’s main street, this small upscale café delights with warm welcomes, attentive service, excellent coffee and freshly baked cakes. The menu shines at breakfast, brunch and lunch—think poached eggs with salmon, roosterkoek and a crunchy chicken burger—served promptly in a relaxed, wheelchair-accessible space with ample parking. Prices feel fair, though vegetarian accommodation can be inconsistent and a few items may arrive overcooked. Overall, it’s a charming, highly recommended stop for locals and visitors seeking quality coffee and hearty daytime meals.

Staff are friendly and helpful and the food is amazing. The menu offers a variety of options including vegan and/or vegetarian meals. For meat lovers the menu has chicken, beef and lamb . The food is affordable and delicious. Freshly baked goods are always making its way out of the kitchen and into the display as you eat which makes it very difficult to pass up. The carrot cake and sweetiepie cupcakes that came out looked irresistible Definitely worth the visit when in Tulbagh. A unique, proudly SA offering that should not be missed 23/10/24 Another visit and nothing has really changed. Still a beautiful atmosphere, friendly staff and good food. The menu has changed so there is a few more yummy options to choose from
The welcome was welcoming and warm. The service was outstanding and keep it up. Drinks and food where delivered very promptly. Restrooms are clean. This diner is wheelchair friendly. It will take you a couple of corners but the entrance is manageable. The bacon was a bit too crispy for many customers, but for me, just lekker . Come and enjoy this small little establisment for a healthy breakfast, brunch and or lunch. This little place is commendable.

Today was my first time experience at this restaurant whilst taking a drive from Cape Town to Tulbagh. When we arrived there, the moment we walked into the place, it was so stuffy and warm inside that my wife immediately went to stand outside. What I don't understand was that the entrance door was closed due to air-conditioned that was supposed to run on the inside. It's quite small and crowded inside, so we took the outside tables. To owner, please have more sun umbrellas installed outside, especially the seats that are on the pavement as the sun was hitting us constantly, and there was no shade to hide ourselves. After we've ordered, it took us an hour before our food arrived. My guest was so hungry then that they couldn't eat as the waiting period took too long. This place looks like a tourist magnet as foreigners filled this place. To the owner again, please do some upgrades to make this a more comfortable restaurant to sit at. Your staff, however, is very friendly and polite. We will be back but hope to see some improvements. Maybe then I'll change the rating to 5? Who knows
