IHOP - Tulare
IHOP
Description
The dining experience at this restaurant is a mixed bag, with some patrons frequently praising the tasty food and attentive service, while others express disappointment with inconsistent quality. Highlights include flavorful dishes like the Jalapeño Kick Burger and the spicy poblano omelet, enjoyed by regulars. However, issues such as undercooked pancakes, misrepresented menu items, and disputes over missing ingredients have left customers frustrated. Despite these setbacks, dedicated staff members and certain standout dishes keep loyal guests returning, but many indicate they may not be back due to recent experiences that failed to meet expectations. Overall, it’s a spot with potential amidst the challenges.

I had a good experience with the food during my first two visits to this restaurant, so I was looking forward to my third visit. I decided to order a t-bone steak with scrambled eggs and pancakes. Unfortunately, what I received was a pork chop, despite their insistence that it was a t-bone. It not only looked like a pork chop, but it also tasted like one. The scrambled eggs were overcooked and burnt, and the three pancakes were served on a small plate, making it challenging to pour syrup without spilling it all over the table. In an attempt to make amends for their mistake, they offered me a chicken fried steak, but that was unsatisfactory as well. To top it all off, they tried to charge me for the t-bone steak meal, which was $12 more than what I actually received. Overall, I find this restaurant quite disappointing due to their misleading food offerings and frequent claims of being out of various menu items.
I typically enjoy the food and service at this restaurant, but this visit left me feeling disappointed. I opted to try the chocolate-chocolate chip pancakes for an additional charge, but when they arrived, they were missing the chips inside. The server insisted the chips were there, but after I opened the pancakes and proved her wrong, she took them back to the kitchen for a remake. The second batch was flawless, adorned with whipped cream and six chips on top. With 23 years of experience in the restaurant industry, I firmly believe that the customer is always right. While the initial issue was frustrating, the rest of the food was as delicious as I remembered. However, I didn't appreciate the server arguing with me or the cook attempting to skimp on the ingredients I paid extra for.
I ordered the California turkey sandwich, and it was disappointing. I've visited IHOP numerous times, and to be honest, the only thing I've enjoyed here is the new chicken quesadilla. You might be curious about why I keep coming back, but it's mainly because my daughters love the mac and cheese. However, we won’t be coming back anytime soon.
My daughter loved the gluten-free pancakes. Denny’s has no gluten-free. Now she can enjoy it
