What Nancy M doesn't like about El Taco Tote:
Food is just okay. Expensive for what you get. First time there can be confusing. Was with a friend and we grabbed the only clean table (out of six or so empty ones) and then realized we had to go to the counter (in the back of the restaurant) to order our lunch. Needless to say, we lost our table. The salsa bar is pretty good, but not enough to get me back into the restaurant. View all feedback.
The food is still pretty good but waited 40 minutes for some tacos and a burrito. Don't come here for lunch if you're limited on time. Also heard someone tell the staff that there were no paper towels in the bathrooms and there were no containers available to serve yourself from the salsa bar.
This place used to be very good, but I?m sad to say the quality is now awful for a higher price. The sirloin used to be great but now always overcooked and very dry, gristly, and often gamey or gray and dusky. Like maybe it is bad quality meat cooked in large batches and kept warm for hours. Not exaggerating, gray and dusky meat. Just not good. Really gross. The pork adobado is hit or miss. The salsas are often made incorrectly and are watery (I used to work at a Taco Tote, so I know how good they used to be! . What a shame because it used to be my favorite Mexican food place, and I?m actually from Sonora. Hope they improve but I?m not going back for a very long time.
I make sure to stop by whenever I am in town. The tacos are always delicious, prices are good, the salsa bar has a great variety, and they have good craft beers on tap! The service was great when I went yesterday. If you haven't been, check them out, I highly recommend the sirloin tacos!
Hello your dollars go a long way and the food is great ?, try it out sometime ,take your family/ friends enjoy maybe we will see you there.
El Taco Tote does not inspire with its outer appearance or its name. However, food is pretty good. The first thing you will notice is the dimming lighting and the Condiment Bar. The spice bar offers a variety of choices, five salads (the dark red is tasteful and smokey), cabbage, salad, radish, cucumber, red pickles onions, cold roasted jalapeno peppers with grilled onions and more. The flour tortillas are thin and good. There is a good choice of meat including shrimps. The shrimps and pigs were very seasoned. Rice (Mexicans, tomatoes) and roasted beans were good. The iced tea is brewed and sufficiently strong. The cups are on small size. You order at the checkout, take your numbered flag on your table, food is brought to you. My recommendation is to get a pig taco and to load it deliciously with cabbage and the dark red salsa. The shrimps are also particularly good. They also offer fish tacos. Work through the cookie cutter look of the place and enjoy some good food.
