First time here, really enjoyed it! It's a little off the beaten path (a good thing! , also a bit of a trek if you are coming from Ptown, as we were, but worth it. We sat at the bar as we had no reservation, atmosphere was great, food was fantastic, and the staff super helpful and friendly. A big plus for me: they source all the seafood locally when it is possible! Will go back. Make a reservation if you want a table... View all feedback.
What Michael Schuett doesn't like about Blackfish:
Hoping I just caught it on a bad night…or in the midst of a staffing crisis. But the chill that ran down my spine from the negative vibe and demeanor of the bar staff was enough to make me want to leave Truro…or the Cape..or maybe Massachusetts. The cocktail was fruity and the water was chilled though. So there’s that. View all feedback.
A fun experience, great atmosphere, above average service, great food, but not the best sound levels. (We give sound levels when there is a lot of glass.
Despite it being the Friday of Labour Day weekend, we had a delightful meal at the bar. The Paper Plane cocktail is a brilliant way to start your evening and a surprisingly good pairing with a half dozen Wellfleet oysters on the half shell with a delightful Caribbean mignotte, a touch spicy and a hint of heat. The fried green tomato with burratta, cherry tomatoes, and grilled peaches was sublime and good for sharing. My husband thoroughly enjoyed the seared scallops while I revelled in the steamed clams with fennel and vermouth. So glad we ordered the apricot and almond cake. I felt transported to a Viennese patisserie! In Wellfleet, Truro, or Ptown? Make a reservation and go. Definitely worth the splurge and I hope to go again.
I had the tuna bolognese, amazing. I recommend reservations it to be seems very popular and it is a quaint place. Recommend as the best place in town.
We had an amazing meal here last night. So glad we were able to get a reservation. Upon walking in, I was a little concerned the decor and atmosphere feel more like a country inn than fine cuisine. All concerns were quickly alleviated as our orders started coming out. The drinks were a Negroni and their elderflower cocktail delicious. Appetizers were a summer tomato salad with burrata and croutons and the pork belly, which somehow tasted like Thanksgiving in one plate. Our main dishes were lobster gnocchi and the braised short rib. The gnocchi were true, light, potato gnocchi from scratch and the lobster was generous and perfectly cooked. The short rib was astounding. Like grandma’s Sunday roast, but meltier. My husband kept stealing from my plate! For dessert, we had the mixed berry crostada and chocolate tart. Both were perfectly sized and delicious. What a meal! The cherry on top of the night was the quietly attentive service. Our waitress was a true professional and timed her check ins perfectly. We were delighted and way too full as we left.
Their prices on their website are very inaccurate. When you go to order on toast prices are 50% higher in some cases (eg lobster roll is $26 on the website menu and $40 on toast when ordering)
