Seaside Restaurant - Trout River

Very quiet town. Historic building on the beach. Sit on the second floor. Awesome views. Very peaceful. Very fresh fish and seafood. Lots of local selections. Was recommended by our parks Canada guide! Great choice

We had an amazing lunch in Seaside Restaurant after walking Tablelands (only 11 minutes drive from Tablelands). The view is spectacular, fantastic food and incredible service. We had squid followed by scallops (with amazing partridgeberry dressing) and Atlantic shrimp dinner (we shared the first and third course), partridgeberry cocktail and a glass of red wine, then pies - we tried blueberry pie and partridgeberry pie, both were excellent as was all other food and drinks. We had similar dishes in other restaurants in Gros Morne and in Seaside Restaurant they were much better than others which were very good. We sat at a window table downstairs (didn't book), which was really great. I will definitely come back when I'm next in Gros Morne National Park.

Review would be 3.5 if I could give a half mark. We went for lunch and because we wanted cod fish, and wanted a lunch size were both ordered the cod sandwich. It was the only option for cod unless we ordered a full dinner. I had the seafood chowder with it and although it was tasty I didn't love the flaked bits of fish. The cod burger didn't quite work. It was too soft for the bun. Either the bum could be toasted or the fish needs to be crispy. My friend had the fries and veggies with her cod sandwich and felt the same about the sandwich but loved The fries and fresh carrots. The coffee was not very good. The view and atmosphere was fantastic. I would recommend you go, just pass on the cod sandwich and the coffee.

We were very pleasantly surprised by the setting of this restaurant, in a working fishing community in a beautiful small bay with a nice beach. If there was ever a place that offered fresh seafood, this is it. The guy next door was cleaning shrimp throughout our entire visit here. The boardwalk leads to stairs up the head land that will give you views that will keep you busy taking pictures of the sea stacks and harbor. We loved the walk as much as the food, and the food was worth the trip. The menu reflects the catch. I tried the Caplin – – the small fish that beach themselves this time year in their reproductive frenzy. My wife tried the turbot. We were both very happy. You cannot beat fresh. The owner came by our table to tell us how proud she is that she and her family have been expanding this restaurant since 1979. Our table on the second floor gave us commanding views of the harbor and of the antics of the seagull on the boardwalk.
