Very nice fine-dining; the owners are very passionate about their craft. I chose the premium wine pairing and was very happy about the choice. 16 courses including 5 starters in the lobby, however, need a bit getting used to. For me personally, it was a bit too much; in the end I could barely concentrate on the individual courses and was somewhat looking forward to the end ; That is a bit sad for such a nice place. My personal recommendation would be to let people choose between the 16-18 courses and perhaps a slightly shorter version of 10-12 courses; and also explain upfront the idea of having multiple starters in the lobby, before moving to the actual dinner room. The next time, I would probably also choose the non-alcoholic pairing instead because 8 wines was quite a lot for me since normally I am not much of a drinker. Besides it being a bit too long, I enjoyed our experience and would recommend it as a special dining experience in Tromsø.
An exceptionally pleasant and palatable experience! Elegant yet down-to-earth setting and servicing. Refinement and finesse in the kitchen yet with blessed and oh so welcome simplicity. We reserved a reservation at the Restaurant Smak the same day we arrived. This was not typical as reservations are needed days in advance. The hostess Linda was able to find us 2 spots because other reservations dropped at the last minute. We had no idea what a magical night was in store for us. The environment was very intimate and beautifully decorated. We felt we were being welcomed in by family. We were introduced to each tasting dish with excellent English, and attention to detail. Every dish was exquisite, unique, and very delicious. My wife and I felt we had experienced the best of what Norway had to offer. We had over 18 courses, paired with non-alcoholic drinks. There was always something amazing being prepared in front of us, or to be enjoyed. This was hands down the most professional, delicious, and welcoming fine dining experience I’ve ever had. I would highly recommend anyone to try this restaurant, and to come back again and again. Especially for Espen’s smoked carrots! Thank you again for an unforgettable evening.

The (new) Smak was also the culmination of a great trip to Norway for us. A week after moving from the city to the new neighborhood, it wasn't easy to discover the entrance to the new restaurant. The modern ambience is special. We were warmly welcomed in the lounge area and immediately treated to our first delicacies, which the boss prepared right in front of our eyes with a lot of calm and skill. Things remained similarly interesting in the restaurant area. Here too you can perfectly observe the team preparing. As a guest you are right in the middle of it all. All dishes were imaginative and unique. The wine accompaniment is perfect. Thanks to the whole team for the great, eventful evening. And wow, wow, wow, when applying for the first Michelin star.
