Burg Normannstein - Treffurt

Normannstein Castle is high above the town of Treffurt. She's well restored. You can make picnic outside or visit the restaurant. Always a nice place to stay.

This castle complex, visible from the Werratal, is worth a visit. A generous ramp also allows people with disabilities to visit the castle complex. A restaurant invites you to refresh and strengthen. The service is very friendly. In one of the three mountain cemeteries, on the first floor there is a banquet hall, on the top floor, almost on the fourth floor, you have a magnificent view in all directions around the castle.

We've fed superbly. Very good food, reasonable price and a very nice environment for hiking. A wonderful excursion destination for the weekends!!!

A small but very beautiful castle. We made the climb with strollers over the 2.8km long roundabout (which can also be driven by car) and then took the steep but short descent of 0.4km. At the top, visitors not only await the top restored castle, but also a beautiful view over the town of Treffurt. The effort is worth it all.

You can reach the castle on foot via a quite steep forest path or by car. Unfortunately, the castle is only opened on certain days. But we had a beautiful view of Treffurt and the adjacent landscape.
