Always enjoy the nachos and margaritas at Amigos. The menu has been renewed but is still basically the same.
I have heard very mixed reviews of Amigos over the years and finally decided to give it a go on my birthday. I was impressed with the decor and size of the restaurant, there were only a few people there so we had a choice of many tables. The waitress seated us, took our drink orders and when she brought the drinks then took our meal orders. That was it for the service. We couldn't attract any attention to get another drink so my wife ending up going to the bar and asking. In the mean time our entree had arrived - potato wedges with sour cream and guacamole which was quite nice but at $20 was a bit expensive. We shared this between us. The mains arrived and luckily I had ordered jalapeños mixed into my enchilada as we all found the meals very basic and a bit bland. None of us finished our meals - we all gave them about a 5 out of 10. Meanwhile, we never got our second drinks so we got fed up with waiting and left. This place could be so much better than it is. With the large choice of local restaurants in Traralgon, this is one I won't be going back to anytime soon.
I had never been here before tonight, and based on other travellers reviews it can be a bit hit and miss, but as a novice attendee it was a hit for me. My fajitas fillings came out on a sizzling hot plate and they were flavoursome and the vegetables within were nice and crisp. Food and drinks were served promptly. Yes the staff all looked quite young and maybe not very experienced but youve got to learn somewhere! Probably a bit more expensive than its worth but in saying that I would still go again :)
Since the original owner sold the business it just went downhill quicker than expected. Perhaps people should stick to what they are good at. The new people are Chinese I believe so it's not hard to understand why it went backwards quickly.
We were surprised by our bill tonight when we realized on our way out that there was a small sign stating that half-priced margaritas are no longer available (the waitresses also did not mention this). It's a shame because we have been coming here on Friday nights at least once a month for a while now just for the margaritas. The new owner has taken away this great promotion and until (if) it returns, we won't be coming back.
