We were very pleased with the _Heurigen_ in this part of the world, and since it has been in the same family for six generations, we have met high expectations. We were not disappointed in any way As we could expect, the wine was the star of the show of the family's own Gruner Veltliners, young and fresh and thoroughly satisfying. Since Lent was on the calendar, there were a number of enticing fish selections; we both went for Zander (See Hecht/Perch, I think I) done nature. At first we were a little confused by this term sure they were 't served raw fish!? but when we asked that it turned out that the fish was sawed, not baked. And it was fantastic. A generous salad and parsley potatoes rounded off the main event; Dessert was a common order of apricot palm chinks (thin pancake); that made a rousing finish. Service is fast and friendly, and our server was both tolerant of my bad German and willing to deal with questions in English (as usually the case in Lower Austria, his English was much better than my German). The place is very popular on site, and indeed at night we went there a fairly large pre Valentine's party, but there are several rooms and our room was quiet and pleasant. As with other Heurigen, Weingut Bock is again working on a different basis, but the company card lists all opening hours. If, as we, you just pass, look for the evergreen dough that is attached at the end of a long rod over the walkway, and (at night) for lights on this stick. You'll be happy you did it.
