Was Liam W at Grub a mag?
I am absolutely hooked on this hidden gem of Bethnal green!! As I first walked through the innocuous exterior of the Bethnal green worker mans club, I had no idea what to expect. It felt like I had been tapped into some sort of secret culinary underground! Each foot echoed through the vacant hallway, anticipation grew as I climbed the stairway. The sounds of rockabilly and jazz along with cutlery pleasantly scrapping... View all feedback.

What Jayaratna dislikes about Grub:
I definitely won't be going back here again. There's hardly any choice for vegetarians and the portions are really tiny we ended up asking for more bread as even after a starter and a main course we were still left feeling hungry. I found the service really bad too, the staff were unfriendly and rude. For some reason I didn't even get a menu or cutlery I had to ask for it. Weird place. Terrible. View all feedback.

The sounds of rockabilly and jazz along with cutlery pleasantly scrapping for each and every morsel started to resonate. And through the doors – I had found it! GRUB! All I can say is... The menu is exciting, the food and service is exceptional and the experience is everlasting. I WILL be back again!

Last night, I dined at Grub based on a friend's recommendation and had a fantastic meal. While the vegetarian options are limited, as a non-vegetarian, I was thoroughly satisfied. The restaurant has a quirky vibe, so don't expect a typical West End dining experience. However, the food was top-notch and the waitress was delightful. For those familiar with the area, it offers a similar experience to Bistroteque but in a smaller, more intimate setting. Additionally, the night at the working men's club downstairs made for a fun post-dinner activity.

This is one of those little gems you stumble across and hope that the masses never find, its like a new band that you want to keep all to yourself! Food here is amazing, full of flavour and with little flourishes that not only look good, they taste wonderful. The menu has variety, locally sourced produce and the chef obviously has many years of experience and creative flair. His partner is the front of house manager and she was very friendly and ready to explain the menu and give her recommendation which is needed if like me you get food envy rather easily! Her attitude and warmness just added to the relaxed and unpretentious atmosphere.

Really great cosy, homely, dining room restaurant. On the first floor of Bethnal Green Working Men's Club, a short stroll from Hackney Road. An intimate dining experience, fantastic food. The menu is thoughtfully and succinctly put together. Really yummy mackerel fillet rolled in oats, with a fresh salad, and a to die for trifle! Looking forward to Sunday Brunch, will be coming back regularly...!

The small, family-run restaurant was located at the top of the Working Men's Club in Bethnal Green. Unfortunately, it has since closed down, I'm sorry to say.
